Back at the beginning of 2020, I decided to start another build after watching this video from Jay Clark at DirtbikeTV
https://youtu.be/qqPZEoeSY2M
That being said I started the search for parts to build my ideal YZ250 from scratch...

So I found a post in the bazaar and bought the frame and bottom end...

Being that the YZ125/250 hubs are the same for a number of years, I made use of the stock equipment I retained from my YZ125 projects.

After some blasting, errors, reblasting, drilling, and truing these are my DIY wheels...

My front end configuration. Although I am not 100% wild about the blue I chose I am giving it a chance for now...

This will be my last build with a coated frame, but for this one I chose a two step chameleon coat that begins with a flat black base duracoat followed by a multicolored translucent duracoat with greens, blues, purples, and metallics.

This frame was allowed to cure for over 6 months while I was diagnosed with and treated for Lymphoma...

Recently I made it a priority to replace all the bearings in the bottom end and add a boyesen waterpump kit...

Although, I am not completely finished, here is the final appearance for my scratch built YZ250.

I am still waiting on some parts and need to rebuild the rear brake assembly as it currently won't bleed.

Thank you! Those are CR High Twinwalls for the moment. Just something I had leftover from previous projects. I will most likely swap them out to a lower bend depending on how comfortable they feel once I get to ride it.

Smart! When I took mine apart I realized I only had frame, subframe, radiators, engine, and wiring harness from a stock bike. If I ever do a yz125 i think I’ll do it this way.

Apologies for the lag in content. Lots going on these days. Growing family, building a house, going back to the office etc. Anyhow, I completed my scratch build and decided to present it via video. I intended to enter it in a contest, but my vision for my videos was outside of the scope outlined in the rules.

I really don't build anything for anyone other than myself so I hope you enjoy this one! To make the final video I used my Mavic Mini 2, GoPro Hero Black 7, and my iPhone 11.

So here’s an update on the scratch build after a few rides. Not quite sure what has taken place here, but I took it out to 3 Palms a few weeks ago and overjumped a table by 15 feet or so on the GP track. Nothing really spectacular, but 50 yards later the rear end of the bike started sinking like I was in quick sand. The spring basically balled itself up and lost all tension. I am still baffled and also haven't had a second to take the shock off and see what the extent of the damage was. Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday I'll get to it. No leaks or evidence of oil to be seen. I think its just the spring if thats even possible...

That’s a new one for the list of fears I didn’t know I had.

Looks like the springs snapped and it’s spun the two halves together.

Lucky for me I had another spring in this disaster of a garage and it fit perfectly. Now I just need to get a new subframe bolt since the original seems to have twisted off this afternoon and I found the nonbusiness end on the concrete. I also did the airbox update same as on my one two five and it looks way more up to date.

Got a ridiculous idea the other day that I know I am not the first to consider.

Get a 22 subframe, see if it fits...if it does...

buy the rest of the new gen body parts
