Hey guys and gals, thought I'd throw up a few pics of my 17'. Not really a build but more of a bolt on and stickers, going for the Factory Honda look. Pulled everything apart to grease, the steering stem had the most grease and that's not saying much. I plan to have the triple clamp smoothed and anodized red, as well as add the blue CV4 radiator hoses in the future. I went with the tusk rims (had them for an old bike but never used) and hubs, the rear wheel fully assembled was 1.8lbs heavier with a heavy duty STI tube. On the rear wheels (stock and Tusk) I installed renthal sprockets and stock honda brake discs. I didn't get the front wheel set up weighed, the wife was rushing me for dinner. The Yoshimura exhaust is 2.2lbs lighter than stock. It's been a bit cold to work in the garage so as you can see the living room was my work space, thanks to the awesome wife who was rushing me for dinner.

Thanks man, I ordered it direct from Throttle Jockey. The front number plate is a 16' Cycra Stadium plate and I had to file it down a little for fit. Throttle Jockey gives you the option to order the front number for the 16' Cycra stadium with the kit for the 17 numbers.

The black wheels really set it off, looks amazing! I can't wait until that full shroud is all red though.

I do love seeing a 'bike build' in somebodies lounge room!

I can do that sort of thing, with a big house to myself (well, really, not now, as I've recently brought my old mum into my home : you've got to take care of your loved ones, no matter how much they drive you nuts - any Aussies here might remember the show "Mother and Son" - well, it could end up like that, I fear), and a crowded, 'working' workshop.

But with the mantelpiece hangings it looks like you've a family there.......... Woohoo

What a great looking bike, and the seat cover really sets the bike on fire. I hope Honda will revise the 250 to this look and update it with the goodies the 450 has.

Side number plates went on great, the only place I used any application spray (dawn/water solution) was on the back fender with the little dip in there, wasn't sure I was going to get it the first go. I got a few bubbles on the left side airbox decal right at the base of the seat back by the the seat bolt due to get done-itis.

Did you get new plastics, so you could save the originals? If so, what brand? I am still drooling over this bike, and I also hope Honda does the same makeover on the 250.

Thanks man! I used the original plastics minus the front number plate (Cycra) and fork guards (Acerbis). I'd be willing to bet the 18' 250 will follow suit next year.

Thanks man, you won't regret it for sure. I switched it up last year and tried out the 16' KTM 450SX. Great motor and overall the bike was awesome but I didn't care for the suspension. And it wasn't red.

Hey Boyd, sweet build and a great looking bike.
One question I have though.. How would you say the ease of disassembly and assembly is on this newer 450? I always felt my 2011 had some retarded design flaws making it a bit harder to work on.

Thanks, I think break down and reassembly went really smooth. I'd say pulling the tank was the biggest pita just figuring out where the tether would allow you to get but nothing super tricky.

I can't believe how little grease Honda puts in these things. For the amount of money that a new bike costs, it should come race-ready with an additional tub of bel ray.

OP, good on you for your due diligence, I can't wait to see how this thing turns out.

Nice looking bike!
Got the chance to see 3 of them at some tracks here in Spain last week, they are even better in person! Woohoo
