Zero (MD) Started a new thread Atlanta SX Pictorial

1/25/2012 7:40am
So I was looking over at Motonews at this little pictorial thread of Atlanta SX: http://www.motonews.com/index.php?optio ... 94&catid=4 And While there are some good pictures in that thread, IMO most of them suck for a variety of reasons. Grainy, dark, overuse of the fisheye, out of focus, etc. Not very characteristic of TOE, his stuff is usually really kick ass...

How does the AMA sell off to the Daytona group effect AMA Amatuer Racing? And if nothing right now, what impact might it have down the road?

Zero (MD) Started a new thread What do the factories get out of it?

So I was trying to read the "amateurs aren't amateurs" thread regarding the Lake Whitney national. Why do all the factories invest so much money into amateur racing? Do they really get a return on investment? Does anyone really buy bikes based on what other amateurs are racing? The idea behind sponsership and supporty is a return on investment, is...

Zero (MD) Started a new thread Motonews...what is going on over there?

1/23/2012 1:57am
Is there a thread over here or at racetime that summarizes what the heck is up with Motonews? I don't have time to troll all the forums as much anymore....and I am a bit confused on some minor, probably not important details, but still curious. This is what I got so far, someone please correct me if I am wrong...
[quote:10nsqwjm] Or if Ricky Carmikel ever sold a zook.[/quote:10nsqwjm] While Hondas always seemed to outnumber the rest at the local tracks, there's no doubt that a hell of a lot more Suzukis suddenly appeared at the local track when RC was Zook-mounted. Of course they had improved their product during that time, but I'm sure it didn't hurt having RC...

Just wondering, I don't know anyone that buys bikes because of what someone else rides.[/quote:2hr3s34a] You're kidding, right? Or maybe you don't have kids.[/quote:2hr3s34a] There may be a few, but mostly just because johnny down the street has a "green" bike. Not because some amateur kid is racing one. I just don't see how this type of marketing turns into...
This is correct DMG can do anything they want (pretty much) including rule changes Like I said the other day, everything you knew is dead[/quote:74gjblz8] Okay. That is what I thought and that is where my initial confusing question started from. Since the AMA is "dead", and most if not all amatuer AMA based racing is geared toward turning...
No. The AMA is still the sanctioning body and everyone will still follow the AMA rules.[/quote:3peb6mcc] Is the Daytona group stuck with using the AMA as their sanctioning body if they don't want to?
Huh?[/quote:31fyq8rn] Yeh, I guess I am comfused a bit on the depth of the sale. If the AMA basically is out of the Pro Racing business...ie National Motocross. Will they still be AMA events, using AMA rules, refereeing events, etc? I guess I am confused as what all the selling of AMA Proracing effects. If they are getting totally out...

I thought amatuers earned "Pro Points" or some such that enabled them to get their Pro License. If there is AMA Pro Racing anymore and no affiliation with MX, and as many reports allude to SX will go away from AMA as well one way or another, how are these changes going to effect the transition from Amateur to Pro?
This wasn't meant as a guessing game (someone did get it right thought) It was meant to gauge your opinions on several issues; A kid going from supermini to pros in about 13 months, and never even racing A. The rider has never won any major titles or races (that I'm aware of) but is going into a OEM team...
