I can’t speak for other riders, but for me, I hated riding 500s at first. Too heavy, too much power when you didn’t need it, and not enough power if you were in too high a gear. I felt so much better on a light, snappy, flickable 250. But back then the main British championship was an open class. So, you could race a 250 if you liked, but you would always be at a horsepower disadvantage against 500s (and ridden by guys who knew how to race them!) I had both bikes. I would ride my 500 in practice...

Not when you ride ( hard !) on the PJ circuit, and just ( barely) into the Needle circuit, they don't........ 😁

3/12/2025 8:00pm Probably just too rigid boot soles. Have u tried riding in a pair of sneakers? Waay less harshness in the rear subframe. Also, just remove some random bolts from the chassis( doesn't matter which ones) Frame breaks in at 100 hrs then it's fine. Measure your wheelbase. Once it increases at least .25 inch your golden.

Nailed it, I LOVE the big-bores as being a fat boy (6'3" 235lbs) a 500 is easier for me to ride.

3/12/2025 8:07am I have ridden 500s in the past. I'd agree older 500s are a very thrilling fun handful. A modern, counterbalanced large bore two stroke in a modern chassis has great potential. 3/11/2025 8:55pm How to win the marketing war-125,175 or 200, 250-300, 350(!)to 500. Use the current chassis to amortize costs. Might not work for 20 years straight but, they likely sell every bike in the 350cc to 500cc range for awhile quite easily. If they make a bike that outrun 450s it will be popular. They already have the older engine designs...
