Those thin 4t pistons are always forged. A thin, flat cast piston won’t survive long. That is not to say all forged pistons are created equal.

7/8/2025 3:18pm at this point i’m confused. i love yamaha for the riding experience but i don’t trust this engine anymore. even with an aftermarket rod i can’t be sure that everything will be ok, because i’m not even sure that this was the reason (the piston was torn on 47 hours!!)

7/8/2025 3:10pm well, here’s an update what happened to my engine is that the piston torn off. i’ve contacted to kefeer and he said that this is caused by the notorious yz’s “con rod issue”. rod becomes loose, the load on the piston increases and it torns. there may be other reasons to cause that but we will never know.

Dude....that looks horrible. My Yamaha has been as good as any other bike i've owned in terms of reliability.

Asian countries and India are seeing a lot of growth in MX too, so maybe some other places to go and race. The world changes and this always brings more opportunities. I spend a lot of time in Colombia and this culture is insane for motorcycles. There are a lot of talented guys, they just don't have proper tracks here, but I am working on that. I hope one day to see a Colombian MX world champ. Удачи!

1/12/2025 5:02am yes, i race pro and unlike other oem suspensions wp is impossible to set up with just different valving. if you want to race pro on this suspension you have to invest into conversion kits for both forks and shock. even oem showa can be turned into decent suspension

I’ve got the 24 kx450. All stock besides powerflow kit, oil changes every 5hr, and air filter every ride. 51hr so far and no issues. Chain guide and slide seems to hold up better then previous years just the normal wear and tear items.

Most reviews say kawi and Honda ergos are the most similar and the best for tall riders. You can’t beat the ktm clutch that is for sure. Probably need to budget close to $1k to put a hinson in a kx or crf. That would cover a used set of 6500 inserts for the ktm. Then you just need to deal with the shock that you don’t like.
