8/18/2022 4:07pm The sponsor/dealer was at Loretta’s and his son rides at Matt walkers training compound with Brennan. I’m pretty sure but maybe I’m wrong but as soon as the claim was made it was probably spreading like wild fire around the pits with phones and texting it doesn’t take long to spread a rumour around

8/18/2022 4:06pm Yep. In this case, there may not have been specific contracts between Brennan and the dealer, but if there was you can bet a clause is in there for that. Even if not, contracts generally have language that either party can end the agreement at any time.

8/18/2022 4:06pm I have this thing where I believe adults can say no. If there was coercion, the agreement would not be enforceable, and that degree of coercion is a very high bar that would almost certainly not be met in these circumstances.

8/18/2022 4:06pm This was my train of thought, I hadn't seen it mentioned before. I am not sure anyone with minimal comprehension skills is denying the kid got screwed out of a bike. To play devil's advocate, and not understanding sponsor's obligations and etiquette it would be interesting to hear from someone who can expand on 8tensolutions point. I am sure there is a code of conduct or specific representation clauses that gives the dealer an out if the dealer feels their sponsored rider is not promoting themselves or their product in favourable ways. Here you have a sponsored rider that from...

8/18/2022 4:05pm I feel foolish, which is a state I find myself in more than I want, at this stage in my life. I jumped on the war wagon...pitch fork in hand. Posted some stupid comments but later regretted showing my ass so I deleted them. This is what I now believe...the claiming rule was and is a good thing. Hope they leave it in place. Having a parent present if the claimant is a minor is probably a good idea. The kid (while totally within his rights to file a claim) APPEARS to be a bit of a snot. Whether he...

8/18/2022 7:07am Seriously, though, for the dad, not the engine builder, how valuable is that bike. For me and most people, hell yes. But it's one bike with an expiration date a lot shorter than the future his kid might have.

8/18/2022 7:07am I appreciate your honesty....Cheers! One thing we all have to understand this is causing change and change for the good. It's unprecedented that something that happened less that two weeks ago has already caused change for the better. You have THE AMA official on here telling you about those changes and asking your opinion! What??? the same guy that many on here went after with a pitchfork...That's never happened before...every AMA official/referee that will be in the position to handle a claim will know exactly what to do and how to handle it in the future...the factories are not going...

8/18/2022 7:04am DonM, You are partially correct. This isn't about mob mentality for me. It's me being a dumb ass. I posted this evening after having some drinks and shit went wrong on my end. I do apologize to caviar&cigarettes338

8/18/2022 7:01am Also referred to by the same friend as the Morgantown Mafia. Peace. There are very few people making this industry go that don't wear multiple hats, often at the same time. God, most people do this because they love it and don't want it to die. It's not enough by itself to impugn anybody, which is why I keep pressing for facts about actual intent by MXSports to produce this kid not getting the bike. It absolutely could and should have been handled better, and although I have not spoken to Davey for several years I can't imagine that he...

8/18/2022 7:00am So you think it's ok to not allow someone to have a differing opinion and resort to name calling etc...to discredit their differing opinion....yeah that's what mob mentality is....

8/18/2022 6:59am That is in fact what happened, isn't it? I don't think it matters why or when, or if he knew about "the plan" before it was executed. This whole story is walking in circles.

8/18/2022 6:54am I believe the father is in the best position to judge what is good for his kid. I believe adults have the capacity to say no when it's not in their interest to say yes. I believe that, given the father agreed, this is no different from if the claim and gone through, and Star and Yamaha had approached them after and offered to buy the bike back. I think the same negotiations happen, and that there is nothing wrong with someone who has secured a right using that as leverage to get something that they judge to be better.
