There we go. Love the facts. Some of these are pretty clear cut and damning. Good luck getting out of paying your divorce lawyer fees from the donut account.

2013 Tacoma bought new. It just turned over 290,000 miles. I changed the spark plugs at 250K, but only because I felt guilty. Thanks for the kind words, fellas.

New bike day is always good, but this one is extra sweet. It's the first new bike I've bought for myself since 2006! '24 50th anniversary edition YZ250.

Talk about guilt by association, grandpa Lew was longtime head of MCA, arguably one of the founders of the Hollywood talent agencies, and rumored to have deep mob ties. In that biz, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Then just fire the guy, that's easy enough. No need to go scorched earth and ruin his life.

This is in no way meant to be even a sliver of a defense for Mirtl, because I think agents are all greaseballs eventually it's just a matter of when it hits full bore, but anyone thinking that WMG isn't some kind of shady needs to do some research into who the head of the snake at Wasserman is. Again, still knowing that WMG is sus doesn't mean Mirtl didn't do what they are doing. Just stating WMG is by no means some squeaky clean conglomerate.

Speaking for myself, I never meant to imply talent agencies were some bastion of high morals and ethical business practices. Just a brief investigation into the history of huge entertainment based agencies like William Morris and CAA will confirm they’re mostly hugely profitable dens of snakes. But my point is that they don’t get huge without copious CYA procedures and...

You're emphasizing the wrong word in that sentence. "FOLLOWING" is the critical word. If they released something and said something like they think Mirtl is stealing and they are investigating, then yeah that would have been crazy. I read it as they had the initial investigation, predicated by someone discovering something, and the investigation yielded enough evidence to fire him.

Well.... I'm really looking forward to drinking an Alamo and watching the race this weekend. In part due to all this Deegan drama. The triple crown format will be interesting. If Deegan loses, will we see a podium speech like we saw in San Diago, or the self-proclaimed angry Bull we saw on the podium at A2? I still don't think the game playing is going to be a good race strategy in the 450 class, but that's beside the point.

Google it. The agent business has traditionally been about schmoozing. They leave the technical shit to the in-house lawyers and accountants.

Agreed. If I was being accused of theft, and I wasn't a thief, I would make an unequivocal statement to that fact. Then I'd stfu and let the lawyers handle things. His tepid denials reek of some level of guilt. Like any fraud case, there's got to be opportunity, pressure, and rationalization. I don't know if he was buying himself a few beers, fancy dinners, or exotic cars with the Lawrence's funds, but I'm sure in his mind, he internally rationalized that he's entitled to the expenditures. But deep down, he knows it's wrong, thus the lukewarm defense.

There is a reason a statement is made like this in the public domain, and that reason is to prevent any possible future dealings by Agent X in the name of Talent X. Wording may vary by infraction, but very much S.O.P. in the Agent/Talent/Sports management world when something goes sideways.
