MXTompkins44 Added a reply to New 2023 YZ450F
7/2/2025 8:35am Anyone have an issue with the front brake cable routing? Mine got jacked up last year when I did a race and I had a transponder placed behind the number plate on the left fork and I think the transponder was running into the cable and the plastic protector and clamp. Since then for the life of me, I can’t...

MXTompkins44 Added a reply to 2023 yz450f Diagnostic Code
7/10/2024 7:04am I don’t think it was set incorrectly from the factory, I think it was a problem with the sensor that developed over time and was getting worse. Yamaha has a manual online that does into more detail and lists the voltage spec as between 4-6v for the tps.

7/3/2024 8:22am Update: Bike is fixed! Finally the bike acted up for the dealer after I dropped it off. It would stall after blipping the throttle. The throttle position sensor was discovered on the rich side so they replaced the sensor and positioned slightly lean. All good now!

6/18/2024 5:09pm I had the throttle position sensor replaced recommended by Keefer. My dealer can’t find anything wrong with the fuel pump or the sensors but I have to try something. I’ll provide an update once I ride it again.

5/30/2024 6:58am When I took it back to my dealer last year, they noted that the vent hose coming out of my gas cap had a kink in it by the gas cap, and just cut the kink out and put it back. You got me thinking it could be the fuel pump. I suppose it could be the heat that is...
MXTompkins44 Added a reply to 2023 yz450f Diagnostic Code
5/30/2024 6:21am I'm not getting a fault code, but my 2023 YZ450F is having a motor issue when it gets hot. It'll start and idle, but as soon as I put into gear and pull away, when I go off throttle it wants to stall, and the motor sounds awful like it's sputtering and not getting fuel. It's almost like it's overheating...
MXTompkins44 Added a comment about video "I GOT NERVOUS" Chase Sexton on the use of Performance Enhancing Drugs
8/8/2022 8:57am
I want to believe the sport is clean, but to see what the top guys are doing in the heat of the summer, two 35 min motos, and putting in the fastest lap on the last lap, and barely look tired for the podium interview, I'm skeptical. To say just eat right and work out, is laughable at the high level.

6/27/2022 5:51pm Thank you, I didn’t even consider that the peg couldn’t be mounted with the bracket in the lower position!
MXTompkins44 Added a reply to Fastway pegs for tall riders
6/27/2022 3:01pm I just discovered Fastway footpegs (a little late to the party) and I ordered a set of evo airs. I have a ‘19 kx450 and I’m curious if any Kawasaki owners dropped the bracket -5mm in combination with the low setting of the fastway footpeg and if there’s any issues with dragging the peg in deep ruts or jump faces...
MXTompkins44 Added a reply to Arm Pump Solution?
1/12/2022 8:24am Armpump is a pain in the ass! IMO, it's a sign that you're not riding in the proper position or at least not one that you're comfortable in, just like body pain intuitively tells you something is wrong. The basic fundamentals to good riding position is to keep your head over the cross bar pad or even slightly in front...

4/27/2021 1:16pm
1. CM received medical assistance off the over/under bridge...that should disqualify him from re-entering the race? 2. Marchbanks sent a message to CM....chill out, riders have had enough of whackers 3. Yes, more Atlanta rounds!

2/15/2021 1:22pm Take it from someone who raced both mx and enduro, around your weight and speed, and go with the 450 and go with the mx version! You'll need to get the suspension revalved anyway, but any good suspension guy can get you dialed. You'll want the 450 torque for the trails and the horsepower on the track, while being the most competitive, and the least to maintain.

1/20/2021 4:35am Look at Jett Lawrence from last night in Houston 2 and compare to the first round. Look at his feet. Tells you all you need to know
MXTompkins44 Added a reply to Correct Foot position on pegs while riding
1/19/2021 2:27pm I would say if you’re going to be on the ball or toe, you need to still have the weight in the heels, I don’t think putting weight on the front part of the foot is good and leads to holding on with your arms and arm pump because you can’t use the power of your glutes and legs. Try...
MXTompkins44 Added a comment about video MOTO 101: Proper Technique For Sweeping Rollers
12/9/2020 8:59am
Very good Ping, I like these videos! With rollers, look no further than BMX and how we can adopt the same technique they use with their pedals that we can with our pegs. Bend at the ankle, lean back, head forward, and just send it!

MXTompkins44 Added a reply to Correct Foot position on pegs while riding
11/17/2020 11:36am IMO, mid foot is best, because you can properly engage glutes for strength and also mid foot will be the most balanced position on the peg which is probably most important. You can still drop your heel and soak up all the bumps and jumps, and you can also make sure to avoid hitting your rear brake or shifter by...
MXTompkins44 Added a comment about feature The Inside Line Podcast: Tech Edition | Motocross Nutrition with Blake Savage
11/11/2020 10:52am Seems like a pretty cool gig to have someone like Roczen paying you to work out with him! A nutrition license is overrated, the best thing you can do is read as many books as you can and trial and error. Experience and knowledge produces results. A balanced diet similar to the zone that includes all food groups and a functional fitness program that varies squats, deadlifts, planks, pushups, pullups...etc is the best way for mxer's.

7/18/2019 8:43am Lets get real, the only reason the FIM is involved is because the battle over who was going to control the series between the sanctioning body and promoter. Go look it up on MXA.
