11/9/2011 11:37am From my experience there is a special tool you can use but it is not really necessary. Cut a small length of steel to place in the center of the castle nut so it is making contact on the two opposing sides. Then just use a crescent wrench to turn that.
It sounds like it would damage the nut but...
