Any bike can work. If you have it and want a fun electric bike, it will work. The first full sized bike I saw with the QS138 70H V3 /EM260 motor controller was Manny Guerrero's 2005 KTM . Unfortunately it got stolen, but I saw that and have built a bunch since then. If you want to ride the track...

Any dirt bike 2000 and on will work. The newer you go the better they handle. That is very similar to the 2008's I have built. 2008 to 2011 PDS are a little better, but KTM still sells the PDS system on the enduro type bikes. The difficult part is getting everything welded in or Water jetted to fit the...

Thanks Beagle. I think and believe riding is how you keep riding. I have been lucky and blessed to still get to ride and build these things.

Hello Rob, They are a lot of fun to ride , the converted electric bikes. Where do you live? If you are in California, or Arizona, you could meet us at a track and try one of ours. The Trumoto Zapper, is being slow to be delivered. They are still working on getting them perfected. One of our converted YZ250F's...

My friend Phillip is buying a new Class B, Van conversion. It is about 5KW to reload an Alta or a Stark. The new van comes with the new style generator. 2.7KW of lithium batteries and an optional 6KW system, a 3000w Inverter on board, a solar panel and a second 170A alternator on the gas motor up front with...

Number Six, I didn't mention any info on the battery. I would recommend Amorge.com Quite a few people have been happy with them. Just select air shipping, more expensive, and get a 10-15A charger. Also require Molicel P42A for maximum power. The dimensions are about 8" high, 11" long and 9" wide. Here is a rough sketch. 20S12P. Here are...

Hey Number Six, and JM485, I would say go ahead with almost any type frame. The best size battery for most bike ends up at a 72V 50Ah battery. This right now gives you 400A for a good Moto, and you can make them, Steel frame bikes and older frames with a quick change in and out the side or...

I agree with JM485 on the Watercooling. The new kits from E&C now have the EM260S controller, a newer model controller. Aliexpress has a heat sink made for it. But you won't need that right away, but make sure you have space to adapt it later. The better rider you are the more you will push it. At about 400AMPs...

Sorry, my bad The Boobies at San Onofre are larger but permanently shutdown, it looks like the boobies at Diablo canyon are a little smaller but Active. I'd rather have any active boobies...
I have built 2 of these with motor kits from Electro. Electro makes it a plug and ride scenario. I have done Hondas and the bikes are so fun to ride. I take mine to the track and have a track in my neighborhood I can ride after work. My ICE bike is well setup and I am able to ride both but not at my neighbor's track.

That's great work and a great possibility to convert a broken bike. Above all it looks super fun to ride. Some like it and some don't, that's life. Pl ease add some warning to your post for the sake of readers whose manliness is so delicate and fragile that they need a combustion engine to feel like a man. They may feel threatened by the mere thought of riding an electric bike and be all weird about it, be nice and spare them this torment.

Pro Circuit, TLD, Glen Helen (Thursday is normally the day the pro's practice, not sure about SX though) Pala is between SD and Anaheim. Chaparral is fun to check out if you have time to burn. There's a Carlsbad memorial that overlooks where the old track was in Carlsbad, pretty boring (and depressing if you used to race there) but it's something moto orientated if you're looking for stuff to see, and it's close to the 5 freeway. Cahuilla Creek is a cool track to check out, plus there's a hotel and casino a couple miles away, you didn't say...

They all come in right about 230lbs. That is with a 72V 50AH battery. Good for most single 20 minute motos.. Recharge in about 45 minutes. I built one battery in a KTM frame (2017 150SX) and it was 63AH. It would make a 30 minute moto, and it weighed 245

Having built a DIY electric, One thing is certain. It is much easier to become a better technical rider on one. Once the technique is in ingrained in muscle memory, transferring to an ICE bike lets you improve your speed at a faster rate. In my opinion, transferring from an 85 to a full size bike will make for less injury for smaller riders because of the ease of riding. After becoming accustomed to the weight, with better technique, less injury seems obvious..

If they are so "idiot proof" and easy to ride why dont you hop on one and see if you can beat a LL level 85 rider? You can be a hero! I bet you still cant beat the kid wining c class at your local tracks even if he rides a busted piece of shit 250f from 2012. God you guys act like these bikes are going to turn a common man into a fucking professional. There are advantages, but the other 1000 things that make a rider good (riding IQ, body positioning, etc) still have to be present...

Man, I would like to try a little bit of whatever you are smoking. Gear boxes on e bikes because missed shifts and bad gear selection are an important part of racing? That makes about as much sense as an argument against disk brakes would have 30 years ago, or how about never having allowed safety seats because they discouraged riders from learning proper riding form.

We have done a lot of KX80,85, and 100's, they make a great pit bike. So do YZ85's, Crf 150's, we are doing an RM85 . Same motor, Smaller Controller, Votol EM150, battery to fit the frame you get about 25 miles to 40 depending on the size battery, And lately we have been putting in a Reserve small battery...
