7/30/2020 9:21am Hello, I recently acquired a 96 cr250 that was mistreated & abused. I'm slowly working on making it a rider but ran into a snag. I did a leak down but it failed miserably, after checking every mating surface & seal I tracked the leak down to a single source. It's leaking badly around where the PV pinion shaft goes...

7/1/2020 12:50pm Steel wool & having an assortment of wire brushes on hand is also helpful when detail cleaning an engine. Check out the assortment of gun cleaning brushes at any gun shop & they'll have all the brushes you need... I like using brass brushes the best but they leave a slight gold tint to your aluminum after scrubbing on it.

Using an oven is better than a torch because it heats the entire part evenly. For linkage & engine case bearings I like to let the parts bake in the oven at 225...

I always use Honda grip glue which is a rubber cement. I believe that is actually what they use from the factory to seal the airboot/airbox junction. Silicone is too soft and peels away. I've used Honda grip glue for this over the years and it works great.
