ga_pike Added a reply to The Commentary Approach in general

8/14/2023 10:48am
During the broadcast this weekend, it seemed they took more of a NASCAR style approach passing from one guy to the next as the race moved around the track. I hadn't really noticed that before and it may have simply been because they had several commentators for the event. Also, as much as I like Ricky, how many times was...

ga_pike Added a reply to Lorretta Lynn’s class restructure

I might be in the minority, but I think Loretta's should be reserved for a focus on small bikes (125 and down). My only exception would be allowing 250 B and 250 A (Pro Sport). I see no reason their should be C classes at LL. I'd also eliminate any 450 classes at the event. I'd also allow a +25...
Best track of the year so far as far as prep goes and it made for what might have been the best racing of the year so far. Best part is, every week is different... so if you didn't like it, just wait until the next round for something different.

I got nothing,,, that said, I couldn't help but think he reminded me of Rick Ryan when he won Daytona with his setup at Southwick. Bright red (orange) pants, white jersey, all covered in sand. Just thought it was kind of cool.

ga_pike Started a new thread BMX track "slurry" mixture?

7/11/2023 9:35am
I just saw a post about a BMX track putting "slurry" on the track and asking for people to help. Apparently, it's a clay, sand, and glue mixture that helps maintain the integrity of the track, limit ruts or other "imperfections", and provide for a ridable track, even after heavy rains. Does anyone have any experience with this type of...

I'm not sure there would really be too much re-engineering to add electric start. The RMX had electric start for a few years. I'd think they could do some re-tooling and fairly "simple" changes to the production and achieve the desired product. My point is, they aren't starting from scratch with this concept.

ga_pike Added a reply to Outlaw racing - how far do you push it?

As stated above, is a cheap plastic trophy really that important? Quite honestly, 99.9% of these folks can't push a stock bike to the limit so the added power mods they do are worthless. If you absolutely have to do something, I'd spend it in suspension and reliability. You'll get more bang for the buck and you'll see much better...

ga_pike Added a reply to Picture of Eli's boot

5/9/2023 5:55am
Do they? We've seen photos of special edition boots being delivered day of the race in Pit Bits so that's why I question that. Didn't several guys swap to Alpinestars back in the early 90's for better support over Fox , AXO, or others?

So, assuming the "flexion bars" were removed to provide more freedom of motion AND these bars are designed to limit this type of injury, would it not make sense for these guys to wear boots that are unmodified and broken in instead of throwing them out there in brand new boots day of that are obviously "too stiff"? Maybe at...
