Charging “between motos” comment(s) that continually get spouted when E bikes come up… Not all tracks you have to wait to ride, or some will do first hour open. And if racing, well, back to back motos happen! If the track is open practice I’ll get a drink, let heart rate come down and go out again. Sometimes plop down for 15-20 min sure, but the narrative of “charging between motos” is complete and utter bullshit. BTW not a hater on progress, E bikes, etc., but we don’t all spend our day at the track sitting in a lawn chair.

Legit question here. Is it better to run these batteries almost to complete empty and then Fully recharge them ? Will charging them Willy nilly between rides be effective ? I’m not anti vax——electric bike. I mean I love just swapping batteries for my kids stacyc. But she runs it completely dead and I charge it full.

Regular Li-ion batteries should be kept between 30 to 80% and charged slowly to preserve battery life. Guess this applies even to the ones used in EVs. This doesn’t work very well for range or quick recharge at the track, so you should consider either swapping batteries or accepting a shortened life.

All these guys who got used to the sound of well-executed farts are complaining about the sound of an electric bike... 😆🤦‍♂️

Won't be long now. Like it or not, they are coming and fast. Personally, I would hold off on jumping on the Stark when all the major manufacturers that already have the chassis, R&D capability, and cash are coming in hot. Just like power tools, cars, vacuums etc are going this direction, moto will as well. 100% instant torque, noise issues gone, much less maintenance, infinite levels of programming from beginner level to 450 power++, similar pricing, and able to ride basically anywhere......not sure how that's a bad thing. They may not replace enduro bikes for 4 hour+ rides immediately...

So many haters here. Electric bikes are coming. Get used to it. ICE bikes aren't going away anytime soon either so stop sweating. Saw that article last week, Dirt First. Super cool build! I'd been wondering if anyone had attempted to race the Freeride E since it is about the size of a Supermini already. The weight is obviously a factor, but it looks competitive and you've proven that. How long are the motos you're doing in the GH series?

So a solid 10 laps at GH. That's pretty good considering those hills. Any other areas aside from weight where you feel there could be some performance improvements. You mentioned in the article that you've been going down teeth on the rear sprocket so you can achieve longer pull on top. Have you found that happy medium yet of torque vs. top speed? Also very curious about heat and cooling. The Freeride E is liquid cooled (although from what I understand, that's only for the controller...?), but have you had any issues with thermal warnings for the battery pack or...

Sounds like they are here. I think the day they are released they will out perform an IC bike in all aspects. How long before or how the AMA lets them compete is another story. I don’t think kids today will ever ride IC bikes unless they already have one

How are they going to catch cheater parents with these E bikes? Looks awesome by the way 👍🏻

I’ve got mine set up for moto. Suspension & wheel sets. It works great on shorter tracks. Got my deposit in on a Stark too.
