Has anyone had throttle problems with their 2010 KX450F? Both mine and my best friend's are having bogging issues. The bikes will periodically bog without warning at various rpm ranges. Kawasaki said the 2009s had some problems with the fuel pump hitting the top of the fuel tank causing them to break. I guess when the tank would flex there was not enough clearance between it and the fuel pump. They said they fixed it for 2010. They never mentioned what the issue is with the 2010s.

I don't think the octane has anything to do with it. From what I know detonation will usually damage the piston and I have seen a small hole blown in a piston as a result before. It turns out the problem was the fuel pump. Once they hooked my bike up to diagnostics it gave them a fault code for the fuel pump. The dealer replaced the pump and it ran fine this weekend. The funny thing is my best friend was riding with me and his bike started having almost the exact same issue mine...

Update: I have determined the problem is heat related and not fuel related. I ran my log splitter for over 4 hours on the same gas without any sputters this past weekend. Have you seen my post on my '10 Kawy 450? At least your RMZ runs at full throttle and has a tendency to it. My Kawy just sputters whenever it feels like it. I have discovered my problem is heat related, though. It is my first EFI bike as well and I thought it was great until now.
