It sounds to me like you should take it back to the shop.

Check the timing........ had a friend get valves done a few years back and his bike did something similar. Turns out they didn't get the cams/timing correct. I think it was 1 tooth off or something. Going off a bad memory from a few years ago.

And to be clear, I am in no way bagging on Mika products. Their sprocket held up just as good as other top brand aluminum sprockets I have tried........ I have just had better luck with steel and it just so happens they are cheaper in better bang for your buck which is what the OP was asking.

I know I will probably get blasted for this, but I really like the Primary Drive stuff from RM. Steel sprockets and X ring chain combo for under $90. Those side plates look pretty sweet! I might look into something similar for my 1999 YZ250 project bike this winter rather than spending the money on a complete kit and airbox.

Mess around with the pilot jet sizing, and get an R&D adjustable fuel screw. Then get the suspension done. I loved the one I had.

I just purchased a set of number plate backgrounds from Chaos Graphics. Great customer service and very happy with the product so far. Worth giving a look at, especially if you are in the Northwest. Unless Taneum is under different ownership since last winter, I had the opposite experience and have a few friends also have issue with them last summer. A lot of talk and promises only to disappear..... Just my experience, though.

I've been using the regular ODI lock ons and love them. Will probably give the Emig grips a try next summer.
