activeMX Added a reply to Should we ban starting devices?
7/17/2013 3:39pm Ha ha!!! That's such an ignorant statement. Have you not seen any video of a top rider from 1990 since then? They look like today's novices basically. The racing today is infinitely better than 1990 due to the evolution of riders AND bikes. If watching people flounder closer together around a motocross track is your idea of good racing.....you're probably...

activeMX Added a reply to Should we ban starting devices?
7/17/2013 3:22pm There's only one way to tell if riders are going A LOT faster into the first turn with or without a starting device.....a radar gun. My educated guess is that you wouldn't see a huge difference in speed going into the turn with a starting device. Traction, contact w/ other riders, ruts etc. are still factors with or without a...

7/17/2013 3:17pm Lots of "trainers" with kids on 85cc bikes at Milestone on any given day.
activeMX Added a reply to Should we ban starting devices?
7/17/2013 3:14pm Not the most technological innovation in recent years but why would you want to slow down progress? Oh wait.....you're probably one of those guys who also believes we need to go back to those antiquated 2-strokes of yesteryear.

7/17/2013 10:02am Not a bad BMX track.
activeMX Added a reply to newmann had it right years ago
7/17/2013 9:33am There was a recession....that's what I attest the shrinking rider count to. There will NEVER be a return to 2-strokes by the Japanese OEM's. I can guarantee that.
activeMX Added a reply to Is it real (Chad Reed ATL 2011 jersey)
7/16/2013 4:16pm Most gear companies don't do heat transfers anymore. They will actually make a run of jerseys custom cut for the rider with all the logos printed on now. Jersey looks legit to me....especially comparing to the photo.
activeMX Added a reply to Lake Elsinore track on Sunday 14th
7/16/2013 3:31pm I heard from someone over the weekend that lives down by Elsinore that most of the heavy equipment was repo'd recently and that they only have the funds and equipment to prep the track once a week. It was brought up they spent too much money on the fences, dead grass etc. and aren't turning the profit they expected.....such is...
activeMX Started a new thread Observation's....Dungey's KTM
7/11/2013 1:11pm I like how Matthes "investigated" whether or not an EFI motor can be flooded but didn't learn or have the knowledge already that Dungey's bike operates with a "total loss" electrical system. Much more likely there was an issue with the battery being drained while attempting to restart then simply being flooded. This isn't at all the same system that...

7/11/2013 1:11pm That's not what makes a question rhetorical. If you didn't want an answer you shouldn't have posted the question.

7/11/2013 11:49am Your question wasn't actually rhetorical. A rhetorical question is asked more to produce an effect than to summon an answer. The question you posed was to elicit an answer on why I brought up the total loss system.....or was it? (this is a rhetorical question)

activeMX Added a reply to Observation's....Dungey's KTM
7/11/2013 11:12am Then I guess we're at a draw because I won't admit to that. My OP had a basis in my belief if you're going to report "Observations" about something you might want to find out much more than he really did before reporting and giving some people the impression KTM electric start doesn't work when it needs to. To be...

7/11/2013 10:08am I said it was more likely, not that it was the cause. There's also the chance a relay was going bad, a lead was grounding etc. etc. That could explain why no go for Ryan but worked back in the pits. Heck, there's a relay that sits in the air box that can be changed in seconds explaining why one...

7/11/2013 9:05am Nobody but me reads my column each, kinda sad really : ( FYI, I was kidding about the shock bolt. Don't get me wrong, it happened but I lost respect for Matthes at a later date ; ) It's actually our internal mantra to "do better" where I work so thanks for the reinforcement. You may find yourself enjoying some...

7/10/2013 10:26pm Hey old man, I was trying to bring to light the fact there is little in the way of true mechanical knowledge by any journalist in this sport. It's easy to elude to the bike "flooding" because another team said it's possible or "electric start giveth, then taketh away" rather than consider how that bike truly operates. YOU are taking...

7/10/2013 9:11pm Who told you that? Wire is insulated to keep the electrons from going somewhere other than intended. Electricity will short-circuit the fastest way to ground.
