1mph Started a new thread Mikuni TMX jet block gasket replacement and screws

for those of you has done this, did you use blue loctite/thread locker or not on those two tiny screws? i spoke with loctite, they said to cure completely, must be air tight between male and female threads, otherwise, any excess that squish out (which cannot get to to wipe off) will not cure fully and may become gunky/gummy, my...

captmoto INeedaNewUsername FWYT yeah, crazy high for aluminum. here's a page from someone for a 2017-2019 manual, fourth to the bottom, shows 75 ft lb, i guess it's not a typo in my manual. yamaha went from steel to aluminum, no wonder why i am 50% faster. yeah, i'll go with a lower ft lb next time. What about the...
Your first float image looks like you have the carb at about 45 degree, with the float bar barely touching the needle plunger, this is correct. Second image sitting completely upside down, the weight of the float will push down on the plunger and that is not gonna give you the correct reading. This is a Mikuni, the height is...
Are the green circles just vents, the red are drains? If one dumps their 2T bike, the float may not work as intended, does the fuel come out of the drains (red) and the overflow at the bottom? Can it also get into the cylinder? Everybody dumps their bike here and there, just wondering if gas will get into the...

jd jetting says it comes at 6mm from factory, should be at 8mm. it was hard finding what the float height should be, since from whatever year, service manual stopped printing the float height and instead started using fuel level height. hope this helps those who are looking for this info.

1mph Started a new thread Mikuni TMX38 Venturi Block Seal

11/23/2023 4:23pm
I need to check if the venturi block (1) seal needs replacing, but Yamaha's service manual stated below to NOT disassemble because it will cause a drop in carb performance, if so, how is one supposed to check that seal and how is it gonna affect performance by taking it off and putting it back on? Anyway, first image is...

First two images shows the original stock float height, direct from the factory. Third image is how much I had to bend the tab to set it to 8mm. (It's at about 45 degree, float just lightly touching the back of the needle spring plunger. One image may look like it's vertical, it's not, that's just the camera angle) Seller...

1mph Added a reply to New bike winter storage?

Aside from whatever else, if not planning on starting it for a while, I put a tablespoon of motor oil in the cylinder, crank it over several times to coat it, as per recommendation in the Yamaha's service manual.
It definitely was at about 45 degree, float barely touching the needle spring plunger, I was holding it while my son helped take the pic, so the angle of the image may be deceptive. It's just that almost everything I've read or watched, stating that typically, the tab is usually fairly level, kinda unbelievable that the factory is that much...
