Whats wrong with Alessi?
Hes getting holeshots on a bike that sucks, wich also has 100cc's less so it shouldnt even be competetive.
He is not getting passed in the whoops even though he sucks in whoops. And hes also not getting passed by everyone, but actually passing people every now and then even though he is the worst supercross rider out there!

Jokes aside, I'm pumped on how hes riding atm! I'm actually cheering for him to do good these last few races, he is working hard and deserves it!
Mike is gonna be a big threat outdoors when he gets on that big bore machine, his style seems to suit it much better and his confidencelevel is sky-high!

It's the bike, has to be. No way that KTM is competative. 100cc less and NO power. Shitty suspension, etc. etc.

One 6th place finish and Mikey is back in the game!

His starts have improved but his finishes have not been that much better.

Canard ,Brayton, Metcalfe, etc are out injured in recent weeks so he has nowhere to go but up in the results column.

Factor in the level of competition and him holding back a bit saving for the Nationals, he's doing great. He seemed more at home on that last brutal rutted up track than any where. As long as you are improving and keeping it safe, everything is beautiful.

Not sure if he was on the 450 in the recent Racer X video but he looked good. He will be up front in the outdoors. The 450 will help him get the starts and which will bring confidence and we all know he can run in the front with a holeshot outdoors.

LOL!, Mikey will be ready for the outdoors, IMO sx is nt his thing, but top 20 in the world at sx is not something to be ashamed about! The bike is good ,Cairoli seems to think so. His titles prove its good.

Easy there Bobby. TC has a much more impressive resume to this point than your boy. I too hope Mikey lights it up outside and stays up at the front. I think he truly can, but he will have to be on it hard if EVERYONE shows up.

He's back in the rowboat! That's all he needed! Seriously he has his confidence back and riding the 450 outdoors well he will start pulling holeshots again.......and we all know what Mikey does with a start.......

He should stick with that 350 outdoors now he's getting it dialed in,especially as he's continuously pulling holeshots against Stewart,RV,Dungey etc...

He should stick with what he wants to ride. He would know what works best.

What's gonna happen when shorty starts ripping holeshots on the 350 outdoors and finishing top 5, while alessi gets decent starts 10-15 and finishing 10-5? Is it going to be because shorty is getting the better parts? Or is it going to be that the 450 isn't developed enough yet compared to the 350? Or some other excuse?

Agreed, the Seattle ride was impressive, but he should skip the last 2 sx's and ride that 450 until Hangtown!

The main thing wrong with him is that he came in expecting to dominate. I was at Millville 04 and there were people there that literally though he would break up RC's 2nd perfect season before the end of the nationals. He just never really recovered from not being able to live up to the hype his first couple years. All he had to show after his lites career were a few motocross overall wins while his amateur rival that he beat 90% of the time before turning pro had 3 championships. So he moved up to the 450 earlier than he should have, which has NEVER worked for any rider. RC, Pastrana, and Hill just to name a few. You move up to the 450 when you're ready, no matter how bad your lites career is going. If you can't beat the lites guys, then you can't beat the 450 guys either. Yeah you might be a better 450 rider but guess what? The competition is a LOT tougher as well. His whole career was just rushed, and that is a recipe for disaster.

I get what you're saying, but don't you think you might be a bit extreme in your judgments?

I'd say that Mike's two biggest shortcomings are that he's never shown too much of an aptitude for SX, and that he's got struck down with some bad injuries at bad times. But that can happen to anyone.

Alessi has been firmly in the hunt for an outdoor championship almost every year he's raced. You can say his achievements haven't met your expectations - but the guy is a winner.

I think the path he's on now is a good one. He's been written off by almost everyone, so now a lot of the pressure and hype will be gone. Mike outdoors on a KTM 450 will be right there.

Well it really wasn't his fault about all the hype. At age 16, your dad is a big part of your life. His dad hyped him up so much, and consequently the fans expected him to be amazing and put pressure on him to follow through with great results. I guess personally being there to witness his 1st professional race makes me realize more so than a lot of others how big the hype really was, and makes me sound a little more biased or harsh than I intend to be. He's never been a good SX rider, but he is a good enough rider that he should be getting better results than he has been getting. RC was an MX rider, but good riders adapt well to anything. JS is a SX rider, and he also adapts to MX well. Every rider is better at one or the other, but whichever is their weakest there shouldn't be as much of a drop off as there is for him. Maybe he should ride MX only like a lot of people ride SX only? I think if he completes every race this season it'll help him a lot just getting a full season back under his belt. He's always a contender for a race win in MX. If he can get back to holeshotting every race again, he'll be tough to beat.

The kid wont have a ride next year.

The problem with Alessi is the amount of baggage he brings with him.
