I'm pretty sure if you spend $50-70K you could have an exact replica of chads bike, just get your check book out.

You spend enough and Kawasaki would build you a bike. Doesn't make you a privateer.

Good luck getting Honda to sell you transmissions. You can't buy a bike like Reed's.

They were also saying how James is "almost a privateer." Pretty soon, everyone on the gate for the main will be funding their racing efforts out of their own pockets, according to Ralph.

With the success of L&M Racing and now Two Two Motorsports, I don't think the Factories will be supporting in-house teams for to much longer. Just take a look at AMA Road Racing.

Setting the record straight, the only "works" part chad has from Honda is the transmission. Chad still uses a Hinson clutch because big red won't give hem the hydraulic clutch. Only Canard, Grant/Seely, and Windham have one.

I don't think any of us know that for sure. And the more success Chad has on a Honda, and a chance to win a Championship for Honda, he will get anything he wants. Remember when Windham was in the hunt, he said Honda was giving him a lot more help.

With the exception of the tranny, you can buy Reed's bike. Fucking close to production. With honda would give him the weight savings.

That's a heafty price tag. If I recall Chad isn't racing on Factory Showas, Factory throttle body or even factory hydraulic clutch.

Can we see a photo of the said bike? I think Chad's bike is more production than you think. Windham has more bits from factory Honda than Chad does. Check out Windhams Suspension. Just the externals. Hand made??

YOU ALL WANT THE TRUTH?
SURE YOU CAN CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH?

The truth is that "in fact" we/TwoTwo Motorsports are closer to available everything than you may think.
& as far as the trannys go, we buy them.
Plus they're there for 1 reason & 1 reason only,
CHAD'S SAFETY.

Thanks to Mitch & ALL his boyz at Pro Circuit.
Thanks to Bones and ALL his boyz at Pro Circuit.
Thanks to ALL the guys at Honda.

Production bikes are that good today boys. The only real difference is the time and man power spent on testing and set up.

Suspension has a few more special parts, and fade time is longer than production.

Very cool.

But you have to admit, with all the time you guys have spent dialing in the bike, it's pretty far from production. Not saying he's running stuff not available to the public, just that the bike has considerable time adapting it to Chad.

I hear you on the stock Honda transmissions being shit. My brother shredded his shift drum and gear dogs and he only races local Worx... I can't imagine a stock one lasting more than a race at your level.

I'm digging the stash.

I just had to chuckle at Ralph. To me, production means when it comes off the production line, stock. I was just thinking Ralph makes it sound like he's running basically a stock bike, which is obviously not true.

Cool

You need to remove the Bubba magnet from the back of the bike though

Isn't that twice this year ?

what makes a special transmission "safer" then a stock one.??

I truely don't know that answer...........

Honda won't let Chad have the hydraulic clutch, that's only for the team riders.

At the speeds they're running, on tracks with extreme terrain like in supercross, the loads put on the engine and tranny are much, much higher than what you or I would ever put on a bike. You need a tranny that can handle that load and still make shifts consistently, and not break or get caught between gears. Because, if it breaks, doesn't shift when you want it to, or gets caught between gears, you're going to crash your brains out, and that is why it is safer to have a tranny like Chad Reed has.

Sorry for the comparison, but based on "Ralph's" statements, that would make every NASCAR team poor ol' privateers as well since Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc don't have factory teams. Not sure about you, but I'd take a Hendrick chevy ANY day of the week over a factory chevy. Carry on Ralph, next he will have a column in RacerX and an internet talk show since he is so "in the know"

So, if you're a billionaire, and you are fast, and you BUY a factory bike - a full-on factory bike - you don't think you're a privateer?

Wasn't jumping into the "is" or "isn't" privateer debate, was pointing out the influence of factory support being spread around, not just one in house team.

No, you are just freaking rich and can afford whatever the hell you want.

By your logic if you are rich anyone who is "fast" can be a factory rider?

Oh wait, maybe that is somewhat true....

I would imagine a couple things. Better quality materials to improve durability & a bit better precision to help eliminate missed shifts. Would like to hear the answer though.
