It's not a wonder that Suzuki doesn't sell many new dirt bikes. The ones in my area (NE Missouri) do not want to even carry dirt bikes. I didn't even see any new or used ones on ebay. over 2005.

Kobush cycle was big into MX and was a Suzuki dealer but closed years ago. Is there even a Zook dealer in NE MO?

Our local Suzuki dealer doesn't have any dirt bikes on the floor. I talked to the owner last week and he said he wont be getting one anytime soon either.

I sold out of all of my 2009 Suzuki product last week, and have been battling with product availability from Suzuki since last year.

My shop ended 2010 up 70% over the year prior, so we bucked the trend and we're growing and selling but Suzuki's are hard to get. I carry Yamaha Suzuki so Yamaha has been my supply chain.

A few months ago not many dealers wanted to get stuck with a load of four strokes they feel they would have to end up giving away. But recently in the past few weeks there has been a demand for them, so it's still hard to figure out.

If you want a 2011 Suzuki, let me know, I'll get you one. I'm on the Ohio Indiana border.

Ryno784,
What would a dealer sell a 09 rmz450 with the current rebates for?

If it were me I'd sell a 2009 RMZ450 for $5300 plus tax out the door. There is currently a $1000 rebate, plus a $1000 coupon, so 2 grand off retail plus me reducing some margin. I'd only make about $300 on the deal, but would do it.

The 2010 has $1700 off currently, I'd be at about $5600 plus tax on that one. PLUS, you'd get about 0% APR for 5 years! Suzuki has the deals right now, I wish I had more product....

They haven't had a new Suzuki at the dealer up the road in two years. And the ones from two years ago are still there.
3/25/2011 4:51pm
Suzuki is giving each dealer only 1 or 2 rmz 450s and only 1 or 2 rmz 250s. some dealers that want rmz's cant even get them. So its not that the Suzuki dealers arent wanting to carry them, they just cant get them. Suzuki is being very conservative on production. they dont want bikes sitting in dealerships that are 2 or three years old. as has been the case. Also those few rmz's that are released to dealers usually are pre sold units and never sit on the showroom floor at all.

I would even consider a 09 450f if the rebate and coupon applied.

no way nobody wants two strokes. no statistics to proove that one...........

Smile

this whole post is exactly what is wrong with OEM's thinking,

you are a yam/suz dealer.

you "JUST" sold out your 2009!!! four stroke products.

but can't keep a smoker on the floor longer then a week at full boat retail.

wow .

there is a friggin statistic for ya.

guess it must be cause you are in the midwest, and us midwest folk don't know off road like the "coast" does.
lol......

my 10 year old said that to me when i got home last fall one night and noticed a couple big dents in our new race trailer.

my 15 year old told me who did it. and well my 10 year old said that. we won't get into the rest.

but it makes me think of this whole process and lame ass thought process pertaining to it all.

And if you didnt know, dealers are not allowed to sell any Suzuki atv's or small motorcycles. Very rarely would they sell a dirt bike. Everything selling is used.

this sounds the same as talking to the Japanese bean counters trying to explain what customers want...

i seen that musgrave interview. and well all i have to say is simple.

I want to be able to have choice. or lets say more choices.

and oem's to compete a little more in the entire market with the smokers.

if they can produce all the atv choices and all the road bike choices, why don't offer the smoker bikes with minimal improvments.

they think it will hurt the turd sales. well it might, but what is a better customer? one who rides for years, or one that rides til they can't afford it and is gone.

if there were stats out there on longevity of riding, using bikes, types of riding, and a few other facts there would be a better idea what is going on.

in the last 10 years i have noticed a difference in the types of prevalant injuries, length of a riders "lifespan" in the sport, and other notable issues. I truely believe the amatuer tracks are safer now then they were in the 90's, and I think the safety equipent is much better. So besides the easy one, the economy, what is the second most significant reason for the reduction to the participation in our sport (30-40%) in some areas?

and when using the economy for the first reason what ties that directly to the loss of riders/racers.

i think if those so called bean counters had that information we would see a much different variety of products right now. they realize its' about marketing and making money.

its a tuff market, i feel that 2011 is going to be a good year. I'm at a mutli-line dealer my sales are up for the year. I've rolled 30bikes myself and we got 65 out as a dealer, we are thankful for the sales we have been making.

But suzuki inventory just isn't there for the dealers/consumers

I had read way back that Suzuki took a huge loss from GM when GM reorganized.
