Besides, challenging laymen to beat a paid pro is not fair. I am not saying I am better than him, but I think there are pros out there that are, and they could do (and have done in the past IMO) a better job. He's average at the very best, especially when you compare his performance to what we get from the pro announcers in other sports. He might be getting better over the years, but still comes across and not very polished and professional, or even really knowledgeable about the sport.

Ralph is fine. It seems people just don't like announcers because I've heard the same complaints about the announcers in the UFC and Strikeforce. You think Ralph is bad, check out an event Mauro Renallo is announcing!!!

I want to ask Ralph where I can buy a Wy See Co piston for my bike.

At a Pro Dirt Track race a few years ago, Ralph was really talking up Wy See Co pistons over the mic.

Where can I get a Wy See Co piston? I have googled and searched the net for years, but all that comes up is Wiseco.

WTF?

Are Wy See Co's only for factory riders?

The reason people think someone else can do better is because we have heard better. Bailey, Eckman, RJ, Despain. All of them can do better. Heck even Weege doing arenacross is better. Smile

joe rogan might be the best announcer in all of sports. ive never EVER been to a big ufc party and hear anything but absolute praise for the ufc crew.

The one announcer I can't stand was Larry Huffman. He spent more time saying things like " Slick as a mayonnaise sandwich" or " Like a snake oil salesman in the night" or "even his an ancestors felt that one" He was so busy slipping in his one liners that he missed calling the race.

I think Ralph is like Billy Mays.

On camera a totally different guy.

Off camera probably doing blow off the Monster girls booties tell them he could be their daddy. And screaming in a drunkin rage "Fuck you all you haters."

And if that is true....Ralph is the man.

I dont see any reason to hate the guy. If you've been around the sport long enough you can see that he tries real hard to know his stuff. I respect him even though he may not be perfect. However Jeff is just down right entertaining. We all just bust out laughing when he comes up with his funny comments. Now the best one yet this year was rc and fro digging back and fourth.

Everyone's an armchair expert when it comes to commentary. I think Ralph & Jeff do a good job for the masses.
Personally I used to love Dave Despain's voiceover's and Larry Huffman was so engaging, people still remember his phrases 20 years on.
Eckmann & Bailey were the class act, love to see them go Bar to bar again!
