Andy Jefferson talked about how his dad had to work on race days, so he would do the "drop off and pick up" routine. Andy was a cool kid, though, and had a lot of friends at the track that he could pit with, so he was never "abandoned."

When I raced in my teens, I almost always had a riding buddy to go racing with, but during my Vet days, I usually went to the track alone. But I raced with a club, so I always knew someone there, and practice days out here in SoCal always have people at them. It's not the best idea, but not so bad.

Riding in the hills or woods or desert by yourself, though... not such a good idea. Kind of like that guy in "187 Days"...

For awhile I had to go racing alone. If there wasn't someone I knew there, I would talk with a few different people there and let them know I was there alone and gave them phone numbers to my girlfriend and parents as well as let them know where my cell phone was just in case. I was lucky enough to become pretty decent friends with a couple of them who were always at the same races and they even invited me to ride at their private tracks. If the owner is content with letting you go at 14, then I would hope he would also be happy to put your info somewhere safe incase something happened.

I use to want to buy some cheap land in the middle of nebraskja somewhere and build a cabin and track. But the thought of riding and then getting hurt crossed my mind. I would only ride a track when people are there to help you out incase of a accident.

moto people are good people, if you break yourself, someone will help out. just ride....

early summer morning solo rides in the CA desert will give you pause, but I do dig it...

90% of the time I go to the track and its not bad at all I have been severely critically injured at perris and the jobsite EMT's did an amazing job besides most all my riding buddies don't like the track but I looooove it keeps me sharp and I can go riding anytime I please I hate relying on others to get my fix.....I DO NOT trail ride by myself ever especially in the hills if the bike breaks or getting hurt .....and trail riding alone is very boring moto isn't boring at all when I just go by myself, plenty of people to race against

I go to track solo often but usually know a few people there. Rarely do I go and not know anyone. One of the benefits of riding a lot. So I am not truly alone if something happened. And my dog is with me. He is a trained EMT.........not

You sound exactly like me. I go to Milestone at least once or twice a week and its always by myself, mainly because everybody else that I know mainly trail ride or desert ride..........and rarely at that. There are always enough people there that if something happens I know I'm not going to be left for dead or anything.

I always try not to go alone, if I have to get a ride in and no one will go I at least go to a track that I know will have a crowd. Like people have said as long as someone is there to see you go down they will check on you. Two years and one week ago I was at a deserted track and if I had crashed a few minutes earlier than I did, before my friend got there, I would have died in the dirt. In fact if I had not crashed close to the parking lot where he could see me, I would have died in the dirt. If you are not an adult I wouldn't recommend going by yourself even if there are plenty of people there. Being a minor just makes things more complicated medically speaking. If you have to go, the tape on the helmet is a good idea, and make sure you have ICE contacts (In Case of Emergency) in your phone, and call your Mom/Dad/whoever regularly to let them know you're not dead.

Yep exactly...... hey pm me your contact info and maybe we can meet up out there I don't mind riding at the track by myself but its always cool to have a buddy around. Im (ryan dungey) "Super Pumped" on milestones new deal 12 month contract $49 a month and unlimited riding. Soon as I get my taxes did I'm starting the deal and ill be there A LOT more night riding during the week and day riding weekends .....work is off the 91 weir canyon so I'm pretty close ....

And it is 1,000,000 times better than paying the same cost to work out at 24hr with all the gym rats and sweaty ass machines I HATE the "club" gums like 24hr, Golds, etc ...... workout at home and ride like the wind when I can afford to and once this is set up ill be riding as much as work will let me! Back when saddleback2 was open I went there 2-3 times a week and was hauling back then all I need is a consistent amount of seat time and ill be able to run a quick pace for more than 2 laps haha

Bunch a chicken shits. I am 50 years old and I ride over to my local practice track by myself with no body around do all the jumps and all. You only live once and if my time is up it is up. I have backed it down a bit but when I was in my twentees it was WFO out at the bush tracks by myself.

Once upon a time when I was a young teenager I tried a nac nac at the track alone. Well, to make a long story short - after about an hour laying on the ground I was finally able to get up the strength to crawl back to my truck and call the track owner to come help me.

I learned an important lesson that day, I just can't seem to remember what that lesson was.

I don't race anymore, but ride trails in the mountains here in Montana quite often. I know it's not the right thing, but I always ride in the mountains by myself. Usually 40-50 mile round trip rides. I've found for me it's best, because I'm not riding over my head and can do what I want. I enjoy it more, because I'm on my own time.

After 17 years of running a track, I've seen a lot of it - from the kids dropped off to people riding alone. One summer we had a couple of 14/15 year olds dropped off every weekend. I kept an eye on them and would occasionally put them to work, lol - figured if I had to "babysit", they owed me.

When we redid our sign-in/waiver sheet, I put a box with EMERGENCY CONTACT in it - and made sure it was filled out with a number that someone could be reached at - not necessarily their home number. (the people with no friends/family put 911)

We had a rider crash several years ago who left in a helicopter. I had his keys, wallet, etc - and he had a handful of numbers but nothing marked. He was single at the time - so who knew what all the numbers were...His ex-wife finally called and we told her what had happened. The ICE contact is a good idea, but most riders lock their stuff up when out on the track -

We used to have a private practice track. I went there once by myself and would never do it again. Never crashed or anything, but always believed hyou should always never ride alone. Went against 1 of my own rules and never felt right. Rode cautious and just wasnt fun.

Another thing we tried - we also had stickers made up for riders to stick under their visors - vital information. Handed them out free to all of the riders.

Since you're only 14 you really have no business riding at the track by yourself. Go with a friend's family or something, get your dad to take you, hell even get your old uncle Bob to take you. I know that everybody is supposed to watch out for everybody else since we're all part of this community, but the other people at the track are NOT there to babysit you! You can't go out there and expect "oh, if I wad it someone will take care of me". Even at 18 I never even think of riding at the track alone. I either meet up with some friends at the track (or we ride out there together), go with my cousins who also ride, or will just take a friend who I know won't mind going and hanging out at the track. I'll even take my girlfriend if nobody else can go because I know she can drive my truck if I need her to or call help if I need it.

Just be smart, don't ride alone.

Rode alone without ever really thinking about it....until...went riding behind the dam at Lewisville one day ..popular spot around here way back in the day...when I got there, a lot of folks that I knew were there. As the afternoon wore on, it started thinning out. By the time I was bushed, the last truck was leaving and I decided I would, too. Couple of hot laps, then I head back to the car. I'm airing it out, feeling really good, 5th gear, headed straight back to load up. Had had a good workout. Come across the back of a little, teeny ass berm - no more than 6 inches high; to this day I still have no idea why the CR did what it did - and the ass end turns into a hard tail and I'm suddenly launched into the fastest, most violent face plant I have ever experienced. I landed hard, skidded harder and would have rolled and bounced for another 100 feet. Except for the tree. It stopped me. That was good. Except for my CR. It found the tree, too. Except i was still sitting there.

Long story short, I'm here. I can still walk. But if it had been just a hair worse, I'd have been there all night, at least, either dead or in a bad enough way to not want to spend the night there. The helmet I had on was scraped all the way through the hard shell, too. I still think about how GREAT I felt right before I faceplanted.

So, no, I don't recommend riding alone.

I used to do the same.... Last Spring I was practicing at mine and my friends practice track. I was there by myself and was doing some 10 lap practice motos. Got done with one and was rolling around the track cooling off. Went to seat bounce a double after the whoops (easy easy double). Some how the last whoop I clipped my shifter into neutral, seat bounced the shit out of the double in neutral.... It sucked, lol. Did a half front flip seperated my shoulder and broke my collarbone. Sucked. Trying to load my shit up so I could go to the ER took for ever. My buddy finally showed up after I called him and all he could do was rip on me for endoing on a little double. lol Guess I don't blame him. I won't ride unless someone is atleast there watching anymore. If I was to do that on our triple or something and really knock the shit out of myself it could be bad.
