I just saw that dashcam footage on my local news, that jet was going fast...
...god speed to all on that plane.

Pilot reported icing and turbulence at 33,000ft, likely loss of control from icing or mechanical failure causing rapid decent, over speed on decent at 20,000ft/min.

Ask me again why I don't like to fly.  Scary shit.  RIP.

The still photo I saw from the dash cam video looked like the horizontal stabilizer was missing, which would explain the loss of control. That was the most heartbreaking ATC/pilot transmission I’ve ever heard. I imagine the cockpit voice recorder, if there is one, is even worse. IMG 1213 9.jpeg?VersionId=wMqfMhuX6cr9tVv

They flew right into a severe thunderstorm! 😔

Nothing left but a giant crater. Heartbreakingly terrible.

Blancolirio (aka Juan Brown) typically provides the most accurate post-crash analysis. And there’s no way I’m listening to the pilot’s last transmissions.

One report I read described a trailer being destroyed, but photos don't really support that yet. I've not heard of anyone on the ground even hurt yet. Quite amazing if correct.

No one on the ground was injured. The pilot talking to air traffic control is heart breaking!💔

That was such a crazy crash. I feel for the families of the people that were on board that lost their lives. Having to see this video and hear the audio over and over.

The news reporter I saw said 32,000 feet per second, after doing some math and seeing that would be over 20k MPH I remembered the voice of the co pilot using feet per minute , not second. And that was still fast 340 ish MPH I think is what it worked out to be. I just wanted to know what it was in MPH since it looked so fast. Looked like it was going much faster in the video . I watched it twice because I wasn't sure what I had seen at first. I had not seen anything until I watched the clip on the news that I saw so I replayed it and then felt sick hearing the voice , knowing what happened. I will not watch it again.

I suspect that photo is enhanced with AI and not a real screen grab. AI could have put parts back on that were not on the plane at that point. The blurry ones are more likely the real images.

My sister lost a friend when their house burnt on Xmas eve. An entire family gone overnight. Seeing the news and photos in the paper were hard for her , I can only  imagine how the conspiracy talk and news coverage is impacting family and friends of the people on that plane.

Correct, looks like the first photo is AI enhanced or cleaned up.

🚨 UPDATE: Here is what we know so far about the Learjet 60 crash from officials and air traffic control recordings.

1. All nine people aboard the aircraft lost their lives. No deaths or injuries have been reported on the ground, despite the jet crashing near homes and a busy roadway. Local officials have been arranging shelter and assistance for approximately 600 nearby residents affected by the crash.

2. The identities of the nine victims have not yet been officially released. Several names are circulating online, but neither authorities nor the victims' families have publicly identified the passengers or crew.

3. The aircraft was flying from Texas to the Bahamas. The Learjet 60, registered N722BD, departed Austin, Texas, and was heading to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it crashed near West Palm Beach, Florida, on November 1, 2026, at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time.

4. The pilots reported icing, turbulence and precipitation before the crash. At approximately 35,000 feet, they reported light, clear ice that they said was manageable, along with moderate turbulence causing altitude fluctuations of up to 700 feet. They asked air traffic control about smoother conditions ahead. Shortly afterward, they reported encountering precipitation and requested permission to climb to 37,000 feet.

5. The aircraft entered an extreme descent. Shortly afterward, the jet entered a steep right-hand descent. The crew declared an emergency and reported descending at approximately 20,000 feet per minute. Flightradar24 data showed a reported descent rate exceeding 32,000 feet per minute before tracking ended.

6. The investigation is underway. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSCool has dispatched investigators to the crash site, with assistance from the FAA. They will examine the wreckage, flight data, weather conditions and communications with air traffic control to determine what happened.

7. The NTSB has announced plans for a media briefing today, November 2, in West Palm Beach, where investigators are expected to provide an update. A briefing time has not yet been confirmed in the reports checked.

8. The cause of the crash remains unknown. Although the pilots reported icing and turbulence, investigators have not established whether either contributed to the accident.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of all nine victims. May they rest in peace. 🕊️

The co-pilot was on the audio. She was just 20 years old..... Such a sad ordeal. 😢

Three of my good dirt bike friends are pilots. One is a retired commercial pilot. The others are private corporate jet pilots flying rich people around the world.

I saw a video this morning of the hole and you could see where the plane actually went down far enough into the ground that it actually stuck and broke the water main and water was gushing out.

Prayers to the lost and their families.

That is gut wrenching to watch and hear.    60 or so seconds from the first sign of distress.

That freefall was pure hell.

In the actual frame still shot, you can't see the rear horizontal stabilizers.   Don't know if they are there or not, but I could see where that kind of speed would have tore them off.

From Wiki.... (on why the speed of descent)

*****

Aviation attorney, licensed pilot, and former NASA aerospace engineer Mike Slack commented that the Learjet is a very aerodynamic aircraft.[22] He noted that unlike some other aircraft which reach a terminal speed due to drag, the Learjet keeps accelerating in a vertical fashion:[23]

[W]hen there is a loss of control at altitude, a Learjet tends to go vertical and descend very fast ... When it is no longer in stable control with aerodynamic forces applied on the aircraft the way they're supposed to be applied, but [sic] once all of that is disrupted and there's a stall event or a loss-of-control event, this airplane is going to go down vertically.

It would be feet per minute (FPM)-that’s the standard climb/descent rate unit of measurement for aircraft.

That photo was very ai adjusted, the clearest I've seen from the dash cam is this. Even then it's still hard to tell how intact the horizontal stab is. NTSB confirmed pieces of the frame were breaking off during the descent, but to what extent they don't know yet. As for the speed, people suggested that the onboard equipment reached a maximum vertical descent rate. Unconfirmed guesses were ~ -50,000 ft/min at impact.

I thought for sure that anyone in that white car would have been killed, by heat from the fire if nothing else.  Amazing if no one on the ground was seriously injured.  The families of those killed must be devastated right now.

The young lady was not that far away from being able to fly for a major commercial airline.  She had enough time to qualify to act as a Pilot-in-Command for a charter jet like the one that crashed.

I heard that there was a female that was injured on the ground, but not life threatening.

I am surprised to say that there has been no mention of the plane manufacturer.

Lots of bizarreness with this one. How in the heck does anyone in that white car, that appears to be driving and not parked, survive a jet crashing almost directly into it at hundreds of miles per hour?

I thought the photo was AI until I saw it on news reports, but even that doesn't convince me anymore.

Lots of focus on the girl.  She was the co-pilot (gaining experience)   Nobody talking about the pilot yet.

The photo in the original post is clearly AI enhanced so it's not "real" as stated (That's not on G-man at all)   Seems like everyone is AI enhancing the frame captures for dramatic effect.  A sad state of the world these days...nobody knows what to believe anymore.

The white car is close but in the background.  I'm sure they got an earful and surely felt some heat from the blast...but that fireball dissapated quickly and the nose in crash pretty much extinguished much of the fire.    You can see the white car pulling away after the blast.

Idiots out there are claiming it was a missile or that the air defense at Mar-A-Lago shot it down.     There is another dash cam video from the opposite direction showing the plane lawn darting out of the sky from pretty high up.

Start at 5:00 on this video (warning - it's brutal)
