Helped you out when you were stranded, returned something you thought was gone forever, or quietly picked up the tab when you needed a break……
What happened, and did you ever get a chance to repay the favor?
(Hooking up with a gal you just met at a bar doesn’t count!!!)
I was lucky enough to get a kidney from a man in China.
Holy cow!!!! That’s a heck of a big favor!!!!!
My wife stopped at McDonalds with my daughter after a doctor's visit. My wife said there was a guy there just kind of loitering ,he made eye contact with my wife and immediately walked over and stood near her. Everytime she got up to do something the man would follow her and my daughter . After getting their food and moving tables my wife was line to fill her drink and the man was standing next to her again. A couple of "guys who looked like they did construction " saw it happening ,one of them walked over and stood between my wife and this guy . After maybe 30 seconds of the construction worker looking at this guy he just left . He told my wife " wow that guy was weird,I saw him following you around" So some random dude had my girls backs while I wasn't around .
It may not have been voluntary.

The wife and I were exiting a mall after having a meal. This young woman was crying. No one else was around. She did not speak english. She was at the mall trying to take the bus home. It was a holiday an no busses were running. She did not know a phone number or the address. I asked her in Spainish if is was possible to give me left / right dirtections. We got her home safe and sound. Her family really appreciated that we brought her home.
On a trip back from Florida I had a leaf spring hanger break off the frame on my month old 5th wheel toy hauler. This was in 2004 , so there were no smart phones. I think I had a way to get online with laptop. But we were broken down in Maryland just past the toll booth for the bridge that bypasses DC. long story filtered down to the part the random person played.
My friend and I tried calling every mobile welder or welder in the area and nothing. The tow company we found that could do something wanted $1200 per mile CASH to tow the trailer. There was a blizzard working its way up the coast and we were just a few hours in front of it. We finally decided to drop the trailer and go to a Home depot and buy some stuff to "fix" the trailer.
About that time the Maryland Trooper that had been keeping an eye on us stopped and saw me dropping the trailer. I was gonna leave my buddy there with the generator powering it so it was lit up and visible, we were way off to the side. He told me he would have it towed if I continued to drop the trailer. I replied go ahead and told him the story. I was all worked up by then. After I told him the story and what my plans were he said follow me. And he gave me a police escort for about 20 minutes , we were cruising at just under 100mph. I was nervice going that fast , but he did say to follow him. We went across a median, around a toll booth and through all the red lights. It was wild! He brought me right to the front door of the closest HD. Told me to keep it under 100 on the way back and laughed as he drove off. Officer Perez . I got some supplies that I was able to secure the axle well enough to get home. We beat the blizzard, got home around 5am and I passed out in the 5thwheel at my buddies house. Woke up to a fresh 2 feet of snow .
It's nice how you flipped it around and presented it as something you did rather than have done for you. God's got a place for you!!!!
I'm giving you a thumbs down because that was terribly inappropriate, but I'm giving you ten thumbs up because that the funniest thing I have heard all day!
About 15 years ago there was a rash of break-ins in my old neighborhood. Thieves would brute-force the deadbolt open in broad daylight while people were at work, steal everything worth taking, and then split. No damage to the house other than the wrecked deadbolt. It happened to me, and I lost only a few small possessions: a GoPro, my wife's iPod, etc. The one thing that I really cared about was my HDD video camera. I hadn't backed it up, and I lost hours of footage of my daughter in a kindergarten play and my the first year of my son's life. Completely, utterly irreplaceable, and it probably only benefited the thief to the tune of $20.
Years later, the detective on the case found the camera and it was returned to us. Amazingly, the footage was still on it. He was doing his job, but what a huge relief!
My family of 4 went to Millville a few years ago and was walking around the track to find a good spot during practice and a guy comes up to us after hearing my son going bananas over Deegan riding past and makes some small talk. He then out of nowhere asks if we would like Superview VIP tickets. He had 4 extra. It seemed sketchy that we had to take pics of the QR codes off his phone (he couldn't transfer them).
We proceeded to re-enter the track at the gate that received these tickets and I'll be damned, they were legit!!! We got goody bags, free drink tickets, full buffet and the best seats in the house! Forever grateful for our son and daughter's 1st Spring Creek experience! It will never be replicated... (I can't justify the added expense.)
This is a story about my dad…….. Several years ago probably 15 years ago. My dad is 89 now. Anyway every year my dad would ride his motorcycle (Yamaha Twin Star) down to Santa Rosa California for a family reunion at his sisters place. Well this one particular year he made a bad decision and took off with a rear tire that needed to be replaced. So he makes it down just in to Cali and his rear tire blows out. I’m not certain exactly where. Anyway he’s on the side of the road and he’s in an area where he has no phone service. So he’s sitting on the side of the road thinking about what in the world he’s gonna do. After about 10 minutes or so, this couple pulls up and starts talking with my dad about his situation. They offer to take my dad to a service station nearby. He leaves his bike on the side of the road gets in and they go to a service station. The couple live in the area and are familiar with what’s in the area. So they stay with my dad and they help him with finding places to call that can help with replacing the tire on his bike. Finally he finds a shop that can replace the tire. The shop agrees to come and pick his bike up . But they won’t be able to fix it till the next day. So the couple drives my dad back to his bike on the side of the road , so he can be there when the shop comes to pick up his bike. They wait with my dad. When the shop comes and loads up his bike ,my dad figures to go with the shop and then figure out where he’ll stay the night. The couple then offers my dad to come with them and stay at their place and they then can take him to the shop the next day once his bike is ready to go. So my dad takes them up on their offer. They get to their place and put him up for the night. They made dinner, visited and then put him up in a spare bedroom. Next morning, they make breakfast and they visit more. Finally afternoon rolls around and the bike is ready to go. They drive my dad to the shop and still wait there till everything is handled with paying/ shop paperwork. My dad offers them 400 dollars and they absolutely refused. Of course my dad thanked them profusely. And the couple just say they were thankful that they were there to help. They depart, my dad makes it down to the reunion on time. When my dad told me all this , he got choked up and began to cry and said that there are still a lot of good people out there.
People are pretty awesome
