Sounds like Kawi is restructuring the team some so I think everything has been true at certain points. He absolutely wanted to leave, had informal talks with other teams (PRMX, Yamaha, HEP/Suz/Tedder maybe), Kawi in the meantime got Malc as insurance and then started to implement changes to satisfy Chase (which take a while to get done in the corporate world) and in that time Chase realized how limited his options are, and that Kawi is actually changing his team, mechanic etc and they have a new bike, so his latest set of data to make a decision on tells him to stay Kawi and he probably will...

Listen to R.J.'s interview on Gypsy tales.

He spells out a very realistic take on the situation Chase finds himself in.

I would be stunned if Chase leaves Kawi. The new bike is coming and a fresh start with it. His options are limited if he wants to get paid. And, Kawi apparently is paying him lots and probably realizing the old bike simply was not that good for these caliber of riders. Hopefully we see the best version of him in 2027.

Matthes said he would be surprised if Sexton stayed at Kawasaki. Episode 682.  No I'm not going to listen back to get a time stamp.

I get the impression you would like everyone to STFU & close the forum down..

Let people speculate if they want to, it’s not harming anyone.

Hell, it's all speculation.

Just sayin' that R.J. broke it down to perfection, as far as what's available for him, in a very small market.

Burnt bridges, rider's, and team's, not wanting his drama disrupting their operations. All based on proven past history. (He also touched on the problems with motodads. Sound familiar ???)

Rosters have filled up fast for the 27 season.

And as a long time fan of our sport, it sucks to see an American racer who, when he's on, can be the best out there, finding himself very, very, close to being on the outside looking in. As far as a quality ride worthy of his talent.

His talent will outride the musical chairs issue.  He is a good dude, who is simply passionate and placed it in the wrong areas.  Maturation happens and careers blossom.  I am a fan of Chase, a lot of questionable decisions from the outside looking in have been made. But in the end, that dude is an animal, and if you give him something good, he can win on it.  Kawi, desperately needed to clean house and start over.  Now, the hardest part is. Kawi has a new bike, what happens if this bike aka frame and motor are still shitty? By all accounts, the engine is weak, and the handling is very unpredictable.

What happens when you go another year, and no progress is made? Your stock goes down heavily is what I would see. Right now Chase is extremely fast, in shape, and can be difficult to work with.  He doesn't seem to understand how to setup the motorcycle for himself. So he needs guidance in that area.

Your last paragraph is exactly what R.J. talked about.

Not a huge fan of Gypsy tales, but at times he has people who are very much worth listening to for the entire interview.

His is one of them.

"by all accounts..." There are NONE out there 🙃 You ever hear of media Embargo period? It's when some official news/info on a new product like cars, bikes, etc. is already known by media members, but they can't share it publicly until embargo ends. ML gave us what he can without spilling the beans and possibly catching heat for it. Whatever you think of Sexton's talent-it's all past tense due to his injury until proven otherwise.

They’re probably tired of clicks after all of Chase’s suspension adjustments…

anyone who expects him to pick up where he left off at full race speed and confidence is kidding themselves. The ACL surgery is no joke and recovery isn't guaranteed to be fast or without setbacks. His Dr said there was a lot of previous injury damage in there they fixed at the same time. Add in he hated the last bike and is starting fresh on the new bike is another variable to resolve. It's yet to be proven where his skills are at going forward. Anyone questioning that is just a homer for the guy.

Thread is too long to scan through now. What are the reasons that lots here think Chase is leaving Kawi? Facts, not opinions. Not that Chase is obviously must be maybe probably upset with the bike so that means he's going to leave like Jorge. What has been said and by who? I assume he is staying at Kawi and haven't seen or heard anything anywhere else other than here?  just cause Prado quit last year doesn't mean that is the new normal. At least I hope not for the sake of the sport.

What facts am I missing that lead to this even being a question?

Page 23 seems like a good spot for a synopsis by anyone that has followed the whole thread!

Sexton was unbelievable on a bike, but to ask if he is coming back on the level of Jett, Hunter, Prado, Deegan and possibly a few others doesn't seem like a ridiculous question. Unless he gets a big second wind on the mental game side, I think it is reasonable to hope he mixes it up with Prado and Deegan by seasons end, but Jett and Hunter straight up? I dunno... I could just as easily see him keep slipping as seeing him climb back to the top.

P.S. I am not trying to stir anything in any pots.

2027 Sexton;

Starts the season 3,2,5,4,1,3,4

Is it the bike? Competition is stiff with the top 5.  Even Jett loses.

Chase is not a consistent 1 or 2 rider.

Neither will Deegs, Jett, Hunter etc.

The difference with those other riders you mention is that following a sub-par result, they’ll regroup, remain confident & come back stronger in the following weeks.
Whilst Chase will dwell on it & blame everyone and everything except himself, getting in his own head and hindering his chances on the following weeks.

Chase could’ve ridden that Kawasaki to top four or five results all year and everyone would’ve considered it a valuable year learning the new bike. Instead he let it boil his brain, kill his confidence, destroy the relationship with the team and his year went to shit,
