Yamaha shutting down their MX2 support is wild considering they have 6 factory 250 riders for supercross, not counting another 12 Yamaha 250's supported through Club, Partzilla, and Solitare.
AMA supercross has 27 factory 250 + 20 factory 450 rides!
Compare that to 11 factory MX2 + 15 factory MXGP.
Nope. In fact, they might have achieved better results by simply keeping KEMEA and working with STAR or with their new own development programme. The real challenge was the cooperation between the teams and Rinaldi’s R&D department, which made the whole process extremely difficult and slow.
I also have the feeling, based on a few signals I’ve picked up, that they deliberately dragged things out for as long as possible to put KEMEA under pressure and force them to take over — or, if you look at it from another perspective, to step back down into the MX2 and EMX250 classes. But that’s just speculation and based on rumours, not confirmed information.
The whole 'you must use Rinaldi' stifled all of the teams on Blue... it was a cash cow for Rinaldi, at they couldnt go elsewhere, until they finally did.
Its a mess, all of their own making.
I dont think Kemea will go away, but quite what they are going to achieve,with the riders available at this late stage , is hard to assess.

Yeah i'm not buying the Suzuki - Kemea - Smets back in '28 talk.
At the start of the week Kemea was still supposed to have the Yamaha factory role, on wednesday they get the news they lose it, and the next day they have a deal with Suzuki. That seems farfetched.

Well, what other options does he have? KTM, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Honda, Ducati, Triumph.. they're all occupied at the moment. The only options he has are Fantic and Suzuki.
ZxMoto and Kove are not really something I see him doing. GasGas would be a huge surprise. Or am I missing something?

Where did the Suzuki to MXGP talk originate? Did Suzuki or a reputable source say something official or is it just rumors? I'm not saying it's not true I just don't recall hearing anything about it outside of this thread.
