ask Bobby Regan if racing makes him money.....his goal is to win and hopefully break even doing it
Yamaha pays the 450 team salaries/bonuses.
Did Roczen's SX Championship sell any more RMZ's? Nope...highly doubtful. The price did. But, it helped kinda shed the stigma it's an old, outdated POS. Factories sell bikes. Factories need winning riders to keep their bike in the publics eye as to what a winner rides. Deegs has kept his bike (Yamaha 250/450) consistently on the podium. And for a 20 YO 450 rookie rider, he is the golden goose right now. He shits the golden egg. Without a winning rider, it's hard...almost impossible, to advertise how good your bike is and have anyone believe it.
you ignore everything i've typed and then come up with the same lame diatribe. brand exposure? how much brand exposure do you get from a one page ad in MXA?....especially one that is recirculated for the whole next season. i seriously doubt RC sold more than a few Suzuki's outside of his fanboys.
racing is typically a loser in terms of making money which is why factories periodically pull out and or farm out the racing program to private teams. Star is an example. Bobby Regan states he has never pulled a dollar (taken out a dollar) for himself from the team. Racing is a business, but not in the sense you discuss. the only major factory race team i know of is Ferrrari....they certainly don't do it for sales volume....think about that.
as far as Prado and Chase blasting Kawasaki, i don't think it has affected their sales at all. For people like us, the KX is an AUsome machine and is highly praised....ask Keefer and many other moto gurus. it's far easier to ride/race a KX450 than a YZ450. you are way off base with your takes on this subject.....

how's that working for them? no wins, no championships and potentially a big expense. wonder how many 450s they have to sell to cover the dangerboy's salary?
You are obsessed with hating on deegan ,I would love to know what he did to you.
Yamaha sells Yamaha plain and simple. If the product sucks, nobody would buy it. Yamaha is known for reliability, quality, refinement, and power. They have good resale value, and most tracks are littered with more Yamahas than any other brand.
Ooof buddy just stop. You also keep talking about reading comprehension when I am directly quoting what you’re saying lol.
One mxa ad? Try thousands of ads everywhere on the internet, 2.1 MILLION followers seeing his stuff daily (including you), 1.5 MILLION YouTube subscribers.
You think of the thousands of kids at every race in Deegan merchandise, none of them asked daddy for a Yamaha to be like Deegan? Have you been to a race? It’s not an opinion, ask any person. His line is the longest of any rider. Herlings said himself he’s the biggest celebrity rider we’ve had. You truly gonna say this has zero affect on Yamaha sales lol?
I’m done with the back n forth with you though. Think what you want and keep editing big lips on the deegans or whatever you guys do in your spare time until the next Deegan thread pops up.
So in that case, bike sales is still part of the business equation?
Deegan inspired me to buy a Honda.
I don't know what it is about the thread title but it makes me wish Deegan would start speaking in the 3rd person like Ricky Henderson.
"Haiden be selling Yamahas at a premium"
A few weeks ago, it was Vital MDs, then Vital JDs, now it's Vital MBAs.
you really ask a question like that? they produce more than 400 because they sell more than 400. that's what they do....damn it gets dumb in here real fast
ok, does yamaha sell milliions of YZs?.....how's that exposure working for them?
"Yamaha not going to the MXON did nothing positive for sales either."
Small adjustment...
the dangerboy can't do anything to me....
Just trying to fully understand your perspective.
What do you think is the goal of Yamaha Motors marketing department?
🤣
Pit Row
Wo Phat, you have refused to admit defeat, even when arrested and convicted by Steve McGarrett and 5-0. After a little research, I have found out that Deegan‘s grandfather possibly visited the forbidden island of Ni’hau with the intent of opening a freestyle track and a Whataburger. You considered this egregiously wrong and have vowed to hate everything Deegan as a result.
He already has.
He's triggered the living shit outta you.
You Can Not Make This Shit Up 🤣
sell motorcycles, outboard marine engines, utv's, generator's, musical instruments, boats, waverunners, amplifiers, home theater products, oil and lubrication products, engineering and collaboration services amongst other stuff......
Stopped by my local yami dealer yesterday... showroom filled with new and left over yzs.... just more evidence that no, cringe lord doesn't help sell new bikes...
your post makes no sense......i'm not making anything up skippy
I go to the races.
I see the fans and the autograph lines.
As Herlings has said, he's got one helluva following.
Do you think any money spent on racing comes from the Marketing Budget?
I have no idea it was just an innocuous comment correcting your mistake. Sorry to interrupt your meltdown, carry on . . .
none
I think Wo Phat has a good point. One of the more interesting opinions expressed here in a while.
He took a hardline that racing has 0% impact on sales, which could be true depending on how you cook the statistics.
BUT looking at the wider timeline, racing certainly builds brand reputation which is a precusor that will impact sales. So I don't think 0% impact on sales could possibly be true in the grand scheme.
However, Is sales the primary goal? Or is sales revenue welcome to offset the cost of the program, with the primary goals of R&D, corporate pride, innovation, partnerships, etc?
Haven’t read four pages of posts, so apologies if this has already been covered.
But the premise of your question is basically a wild guess. Where did 50/50 come from other than pulling it out of thin air?
There’s no chance it’s a 50/50 love/hate ratio. Set aside whatever you personally think about Deegan and look at it objectively. Deegan sells seats. He has some of the longest autograph lines. He has a massive social media presence. And other than maybe Tomac, he gets some of the biggest cheers at every race I’ve been to.
It’s pretty openly acknowledged by people who actually know the business that Deegan sells tickets and brings both traditional and non-traditional fans into the sport.
Does that mean Deegan sells Yamahas? Who knows. There’s really no way for any of us to know that. But what we do know is that he’s a fan favorite and has brought a lot of money and eyeballs to the sport. That kind of exposure generally translates into sales for sponsors.
You’re exactly right that it’s a business, but you are showing your ignorance in everything else you’ve been saying. What is the primary goal of a business? It’s to make a profit.
Yamaha’s number one objective is to sell their products. When Deegan wins races, and when Deegan wins titles, and when Deegan brings in outside interests into the sport, he is bringing more exposure to Yamaha, which in turn increases sales.
It’s why Yamaha or any other brand puts ads in magazines or pays for commercial space when you watch the races. They’re basically saying, “Look at our bike, it is a championship winning bike. Go buy one.”
Yamaha didn’t hire Deegan for the hell of it. They hired him to win races and titles and bring exposure to their brand to increase sales. It’s not a hard concept to grasp.
