My wife would argue that point but thank you 😄  Back on the subject of retirement, I feel like everywhere I look I see a project, between the house, garage, yard, vehicles, bikes, camper, trailer, kayaks, camp stuff, generator etc I have years worth of tasks I "Should" be doing, but I look at everything, wonder where to even start, then go aah fuck it I don't feel like getting into that so I go ride my bike instead lol. I'm kind of hoping cooler weather gets me motivated to work on the shit around the house I've been putting off for 30+ years.  No gold standard here hahaha.

We are supposed to be in the high 60’s to mid 70’s for the next 10 days but with some pop up storms rolling through for a couple days .

Let’s see , spent the day with my wife. Tomorrow I get to hang out and play with all 4 of my grandkids . Might take them to the beach or park with my wife and daughter ? Off to the lake on Thursday to ski through Monday  , sometimes it’s longer. Occasionally throw in a camping trip to change things up ( The family joins me on most lake trips )  Come home and repeat until Halloween when I shift from waterskiing to riding for the next 6 months , then repeat. I spend so much time out in the desert in my RV that my nickname from my riding buddies became Caveman 🤣 This is the 8th year of doing this and I’ve yet to get bored. The worst part is trying to fit in the drs appointments without messing with my schedule . Something tells me I’m doing it right 🤷‍♂️. All this is possible because Hughes Aircraft offered a damn good retirement program to a low life blue colored worker like myself 🤣 Sure hope I never wake up from this dream !

Go Rawly go ! Stoked for you. How old are your grandkids ?  We have 4 too.  6, 5, 3, and 7 months. It's rare we don't something with them on the weekends. We don't say no, whatever you guys are doing we're in. I'm doing stuff I would usually not do lol. Last Saturday we went to a Viking Festival, this Saturday is monster trucks. Both kids are excited about desert season. The PW50 is going to see some miles this season.

Sounds like you’re an awesome Papa. What a full life.  It’s a blessing to have our 3 daughters all within 10 miles . Our granddaughters are 1,2,3,and 13. Here’s a typical day at Rawly World. Everyone but the 1 year old are all in on making slime. Grandma Karen rarely says no. IMG 9201.png?VersionId=x5fxOiWeiGN5aKh2QfEdu0us7GSMeS

we planned for years to exit the rat race and move somewhere with slower pace, lower cost of living, less crazy population and lots to do especially outdoors. We had no kids, she's 7 years older than me and got a medical retirement then early full SS benefit. I retired early at 56, had to go into Obamacare and deliberately waited until 64 to start SS. Lived off savings and some specialized small withdrawals from company 401k. We lived frugally anyways so never felt strapped.

We had planned to take up Yoga together, I wanted to take up golf and beer brewing, continue our mountain biking and light hiking, some off-roading and more horse quality for her. Almost none of it materialized for multiple reasons but she got her horse thing going with a great group of like-minded gals, I get to ride a couple times a year and spend too much time on forums. Medical issues and cancer seem to take up more time they have a right to. Hope yours goes better!

Try ivermectin for cancer issues. Do a deep dive if you want, my family has gone thru it and the stuff worked for them.

thanks for sharing. Wonderful that your family found some relief. Stress of not knowing is a killer. I'm in a good place with my treatment plan and hyper vigilance trying not to let this thing progress to more serious stage. Life is pretty normal as before diagnosis. Would be great if there was a magic pill, treatment, cure, one size fits all solution that worked for everyone, but the science and technology isn't there yet. We can keep hoping 🙂

It’s cheap enough and plentiful enough to give it a shot you know? Glad it’s managed!!

I retired very young…. I wake up every day with a plan…try to treat everyday like an adventure….I don’t always reach my goals but, I try….originally an upstate New Yorker, changed residency to Florida, for tax reasons…soon as my daughter graduated high school & went to college….plenty of ways to stay busy…. I still ride 2-3 times a week, occasionally race, Mx & trails…Mtn. & road bike, golf, hike, try to play guitar, read books, swim, pontoon boat ….2 houses, so always something needing work….long walks with my Yellow lab…..bought and restored several old Mx bikes over the last 15 years….love being in my workshop, working on my bikes and listening to music….I live in Jupiter, Florida in the winter, if you want to ride some sand woods loops….send me a PM when you are in  Vero……IMG 8712 1

that's a great life! Wore me out just reading about it 😅 I retired young too- 56, but a lot of the stuff we planned never happened for 1 reason or another. I never stop thinking/dreaming about what I want to do next and should be doing. Have lots of lists I enjoy crossing items off as I complete them, but damn, some days I just want to relax and recharge instead of pushing. Wife's perspective " you better not die and leave me with all that motorcycle junk to get rid of!"

One day off in the future:

RD says to wife, If I die you can do whatever you want except my bikes are sacred. If you remarry, your new husband can't touch any of my bikes, I don't want some asshole riding my bikes.

Wife replies: What makes you think I'm going to marry another asshole? 🤣🤣

Sorry RD, couldn't resist

no worries. I had a better comeback instead. She loves horses and has a couple with barns, etc. I replied you better not die and leave me with all the horse stuff as I have no clue or desire to maintain all that. And I really want all that space back for a giant new shop and my MX practice track you encroached on.

My wife would be pissed if I died now if just for all the stuff, some of it quite heavy, that i have laying around that needs to go.

Side note. One of my dads sisters who has long since died, married for her last husband a man of good wealth. He somehow wrote it into HIS will that if he died before her that she would be cut off from receiving any of it if she remarried. Talk about controlling a persons life from the grave. My dad never liked him as the man was a "hugger" and dad was never up for getting a hug from another man. That and he was too boisterous for dad.

I hear the “ get rid of all those bikes and parts “:often😂….I don’t care about the bikes as much as my Porsche 911 4CS 7spd….

New group we have joined Escapes is having a huge get together for 9 days in January at

LAKE HAVASU RODEO GROUNDS DUB CAMPBELL PKWY · LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ 86406

generally, pretty fair I think. I have a buddy that spends a couple weeks every year in Quartzite where they have huge Gem, Mineral, and RV shows with vendors, etc. From Havasu you head south down 95 to Quartzite AZ intersection on the 10 fwy I believe it is. Verify directions for yourself but here is website for the overall activity schedule, etc. Wife and I used to pass by there annually on our way to CO. It's like a huge city that takes over the desert and looks like fun.

Hit me up if you guys make it to the upper desert, the Cal City , Jawbone , Ridgecrest area. I’m sure Sumdude , Manny and others will take care of you in the lower desert east of where they live. FYI , Glen Hellen is between the two.

I’m in the same boat with my home. I’m, slowly moving on getting started with numerous projects. Part of my problem is, I’ve not adjusted to sleeping in, due to being just recently retired. Still waking up at 3:30 to 4:30 AM. Right now I’m just mucking out all the crap I don’t need. Making a dump run tomorrow. It’s amazing how many things you accumulate over the years that you don't need. My financial situation is really good, no worries there. I’m going on my 4th week being fully retired and I can see now that there is definitely an adjustment period .

Quartzite! I had the pleasure of camping there last Thanksgiving. I told my wife after touring the town, that they have SwapMeets everywhere and are selling ROCKS! It’s like where the old hippies go to do whatever old hippies do. For the life of me I can’t figure out why anyone would go there.

what do you have against old hippies? 😝 Don't know how long you've lived in Moreno Valley, but those of us who actually grew up in SoCal were into all forms of off-roading, not just closed course "moto" on 2 wheels. Always looked forward to desert season and camping with friends and family, nightly campfires and telling stories. 2 wheels, 3 wheels 4 wheels - all types of fun! The worst part was all the increasing regulation including fees and permits, then restrictions on what type of riding, where, and when.

There's a refreshing lack of all that in Quartzite that draws people in. Wide open free camping and ride what you brung when you want and not stifling hot like most of the year in AZ.

Quartside is huge for full time RVers staying there boondocking a few months in the winter so we are planning on staying there some.

yes, plenty of OHV opportunities South of the 10. All self-contained primitive camping although there were some public bathrooms scattered around.

I wouldn't try riding my emtbs there though 😉 There's frontage roads running parallel to main freeway on either side where most of the vendor action is concentrated from what I recall.

I was thinking more about Riding on my rockstar edition dualsport than the mountain bike.

I haven't ridden in or around Quartzsite, but I do stop there every time I go to Phoenix. By my estimation, the best beef jerky on the planet is from Daniel's Fresh Jerky, located near the west end of town. Look for the Terrible's gas station; it's right across the street.

The wife ran away from me at Home Depot today. We went there to get a door mat. But along the way we stopped at the lighting department and were looking at fixtures and ceiling fans. As we were looking,  the song The Breeze by Lynyrd Skynyrd came on over the PA system. So not screaming but fairly loud I started singing “ NOW THEY CALL ME THE CHEESE  AND I KEEP GRADE’n DOWN THE ROAD!” While doing a little dance. She said “I’m outta here!” and was gone like a flash of light! 😂
