Read what I wrote again, you are agreeing with me, in a contradictory fashion.

If you haven't seen an untrained (in the strength training world) early 20s, motivated trainee put on 5-7 scale lbs in two weeks when they start Creatine, heavy lifting, and prioritized recovery, I don't know what to tell you, but it's quite common. Note I said scale lbs - of course it's not full on lean tissue backed by a DEXA.

If you lift heavy, take 6 months off for injury, surgery, etc, then let me know what happens the first two weeks back - if it's only 1lb, part of your program is off.

I have a 20something son (student, not athlete) that works out inconsistently.

Gets busy, no workout for weeks, then starts the creatine and work out for two weeks hard and literally explodes with upper body muscles (or appears to).  I am sure its not lean muscle, but it appears to be.

Point taken.

You two are crazy. Nobody is putting on 7 pounds of muscle in a week no matter what stack they are taking. I doubt they would even put on 7 pounds of weight, and if they did it would be mostly glycogen and fluid accumulation because muscle growth wouldn’t start in two weeks time.
Even if a guy who has been working out a few month and was building protein, still wouldn’t happen.

He could not ride MXON because they do test riders for ped. It wasnt about money after all.

So far beyond what is physiologically possible especially for someone with a frame like his that weighs 140lbs, just absolutely ridiculous.

That was my first thought that it's absolutely embarrassing that a reporter for a professional series would be so ignorant to report such a thing a simple 30 second Google search would have explained that it's not possible🤷‍♂️

lol expect a reporter for this sport to fact check stories when national reporters won’t fact check truly important things

I respect that answer. I guess my reply would be, because things seems impossible to me, do not think it’s impossible for anyone to accomplish

Impossible for anyone. No one is putting on 7lbs of muscle in two weeks. Especially a professional athlete that is already in a regular strength program and fit. Assume Degz weighs 150lbs. That would amount to a 5% increase. Not in weight. In lean muscle mass. Not going to happen. For what it is worth here is what Google says. Now even if you double it with some pharmaceutical help, it is still well short.

  • Beginners (First 3–6 months): 1 to 3 pounds of muscle per month (often called "newbie gains" due to rapid neuromuscular adaptation).
  • Intermediates (6 months–2 years): 0.5 to 1.5 pounds of muscle per month as growth naturally slows down.
  • Advanced Lifters (2+ years): 0.25 to 0.5 pounds or less per month, approaching natural genetic limits.

It's almost as if every time I tried to expand on this, I said "scale pounds" and specifically said "of course it's not DEXA backed lean mass"

I'd be frustrated if I didn't just accept that Vital is going to Vital and skip past nuance, but I appreciate that some understood the general point, and the levels of real world insight some may have to seeing similar things often enough to completely understand a 20 year old on a new program making that off hand remark to the media.

It's not any deeper than that.

That's what I kinda figured/wondered  all these years, he would ACT like he wanted to go earlier in the season then boom a different excuse each year. Can't take the chance on being tested.

You nailed it!

He asked Kitchen to take him out in SMX Rd2 so that the only way he could win is to torpedo Jo in the final, knowing he could disguise a crash where he breaks his collarbone to avoid being PED tested at MXON as an attempt to take Jo out.

The evidence that clinched your theory is an off hand remark about his new strength training program to a reporter.

You people are certifiable.

I haven't followed everything in this thread so maybe I'm addressing the wrong thing but youre adding nuance. Nobody is arguing you can't add 7lbs of scale weight in 2 weeks. Of course you can. We're laughing at 7 lbs of MUSCLE in 2 weeks
