Not sure exactly where Dean Wilson is from but this is a picture of him practicing at Doune (Dunblane) after the Italian MXdN in 2009...
Thanks for the info fellas
It has 6 tracks 2 for adults and 4 kids tracks for various skill levels. It also has a hare and hound loop, which I guess you guys would call hare scrambles. Dean taught a couple of schools alongside Stuart Flockhart there at the tail end of 2010.
Balmullo and Doune as said above are great tracks too, although balmullo may well be closed by the time you get over. It operates during the winter months due to town planning restrictions.
As far as i'm aware deano is from East Kilbride and nobody outwith his family probably know who he is. EK is one of Scotland's "new towns" developed in the 60s to take overspill from neighbouring cities, in this case Glasgow. It's a shithole, with nothing but precast concrete buildings and roundabouts, our way of dealing with road junctions. As a yank you'll probably get a giggle at first, then get pissed off when you get lost - think Clark Griswald in European Vacation going round in circles.....
Moto shops, there's Mickey Oates Motorcycles (honda and kawi + vintage specialist) and Ride On (yamaha) in Glasgow, Drysdales in Perth for KTM, Dennis Irvine in Aberdeen Husky etc get on www.scottishmotocross.co.uk, also Freeflowmoto.com is deano's cousins place just outside Glasgow on the cathkin braes.
Plenty non-Moto things to do, you're only over for a short time. I lived in Edinburgh whilst at Uni studying architecture, if you need a further steer drop me a pm
There is a big pre-season International meeting at Hawkstone in the midlands (england) on the 20th March... a handful of GP regulars (Desalle, Ramon, de Dycker, Leok, S.Pourcel, Anstie, Searle etc) along with most of the top British riders. Last year Roczen stole the show.
It would be worth the trip down from Scotland and while it seems like a fair old distance for us, its probably just a short trip for an American used to travelling between states.
