He's raced wey plenty of times, beat him a few times at least. In the past I think they've been about the same speed. Will be interesting to see where they stack up if both racing outdoors in US next year.
Wey went 22-18 at High Point to Keefer’s 39-32.

If you are a diesel mechanic, you would take quite a pay cut to race the nationals, unless you have a fat factory contract.
They had said in one of their first podcasts that scoring 20 points for the year was the goal. Aden seems like a great kid, but I don't think he's got that gnarly mindset that's needed in the outdoors. When listening to their podcasts after the races, he talks about getting flustered when he gets passed. Maybe he will get better in dealing with it with more races under his belt, but it doesn't seem like he's got that "dog" in him as the kids say.
I live in western pa, where are these diesel mechanics that can score points?

Was going to mention this but didn’t want to get called out. Wey also had much better results in The futures races. Cant blame him for taking the ride but feel it was way too early to do so.
When the deal was announced, I personally thought he would squeak in there and get a few points by now, but after the first few rounds, I had to adjust my thinking, just as much as they might have had to adjust their goals for the season as a family. I think he is doing fine. If you have never competed in a competitive series, you may not realize how important building a base really is (fitness, riding, mental, adaption to new environments, etc.). He seems to get a little better each year and has had a few years with injury that may have slowed his progression leading up to this. I think they fully understand after this season his ride may come to an end, but if he gets anything out of this year, he hopefully leaves healthy and has started the base he needs to go out and give it a shot again next year. The positive is his first year he had an opportunity to learn from an established team. This can be beneficial if he has to go do it on his own next year. I think there is still a chance he grabs a point before the end with a really good start and going all out for as long as possible.
I don’t want to come off as a hater either, the expectations just didn’t make sense based on his racing history and amount of time he’s missed racing. Expecting him to score 20 points is seriously setting him up to fail.
Will he keep the same ride for SX with these results, that’s what I’m wondering. Results don’t justify the ride, unless he keeps it because of the last name.
I think the Keefer's bring more than a last name, I would think the team see's added value (Family podcast, testing experience, more fan exposure, etc.) . But I do think that team is becoming more in demand by a new wave of good riders, so who knows if he will have a seat there. Maybe they see potential and give him the off season to see if he can elevate his riding and endurance to earn a spot there.

Did they not do a recap after Ironman? I thought I saw it pop on but now it seems to be gone. Curious what happened and his future plans
He is already locked up from what I remember. Smx next in supercross and pro outdoors again.
This surprises me so much but i'm happy if it holds true. I hope he doesn't fall victim to the smaller team "pull the rug out" mentality. He must have brought a lot of value to the team beyond results, which is a great thing. I have enjoyed following this journey, but man what a tough road. Pro MX is hard.....

His value to the team is higher as an influencer than as a racer it seems.
First year didn’t go as planned, but I’m not surprised if Phoenix keeps him for the podcast/ social media exposure. But I see the main reason they keep him is he knows how to test a bike and tell the team exactly what’s happening, so they can improve the platform for the team as a whole.
He’s already re-signed for next year with them. He’s doing futures for the SX season, then all pro nationals.
Could they be paying for the ride or bringing something else to the program?
Hes not paying for the ride. It doesn't hurt having his dad's business being what it is. But the kid got the ride because the potential for him being a good rider and getting in the points regularly is there. Hes behind the 8 ball by not having this be the plan, coming in short notice and getting his feet wet. There quite a few guys in the industry that think adens gonna at the very least make down the road a good journeyman scoring point regularly. He'll be better next year, he made it through with only a couple injuries and bike issues. He did good

Jeremy hand didn't score a point outdoors until his 4th season. Carroll raced his first pro race in 2019 and got his first outdoor points this summer. Keefer is under a microscope but if those are the guys you're comparing him to, he's doing just fine. The semi and all that is nice but I don't think that stuff accounts for as many positions on the track as some seem to think.
Fair point, and no hate on little Keefer, I think he’ll be fine. Take into account for Hand that he didn’t have the resources to travel and race the whole series. He did 8 rounds total between his first 2 years and by year 3 he was racing the 450 class. He’s just a guy I always thought deserved some more support.
Having your way paid to get to the races, a mechanic and all parts and other bike expenses covered absolutely makes a difference.
