That move HAD TO BE MADE. Last lap, you're a chump if you don't send it in. I don't know what JS was thinking leaving the door open like that!!!

I used to do that type of pass all the time when I raced. Cut the corner, drive straight across and let the other guy make the decision to either shut off or get taken out. Most people I raced chose to let off the gas.

Stewart chose to gas it and take his chances.

He was probably wondering why the hell Jr. left the door wide open with a rider on his tail.

I said in another thread Reed had a rep for not hanging it out for a win. Looks like things have changed.

Like any red blooded racer wouldn't have taken that opportunity. Lets not hide our heads in the sand, Stewie would have done the same.

Speculation that is! I agree in going for the win but not by t-boning another rider. I guess I am a little more concious. That was even dirtier than the move that cost them both a season, remember?

Oh, it was a pure takeout move, for sure. But it was the last lap and he wanted to win, so...

What I want to know is, if the AMA docked Windham points for punting DV off the track in Phoenix in '04 when Windham was actually turning under him, what should they do when Reed just drives in front of Stewart and doesn't even try to make the turn? Of the two moves, Reed's was the only one in which the rammer didn't even try to stay on the track.

I'm not a Reed fan, but that wasn't a take-out. A take-out would be coming in under him & into his tires - taking him out. That was a block pass, Reed blocked Stewart's line. Stewart ran into Reed & I guaruntee Stewart knew what was going to come of it. Stewart should have slowed up changed his line & come in under Reed in the next corner, but instead he let the situation get the best of him.
