Last week they were docking license points for going off the track and now this week we are back to docking positions. Kitchen just got a 4-position penalty. When does the AMA just go to a standard penalty so they don't have to look like clowns every week.
This whole track markers and penalties are pissing me off to a very high level as a fan.
lets make a start gate where the left and right sides pinch in so much so that you're now off the track... wtf fucking morons
Two completely different situations under the rules....what Levi did IS the example of gaining positions while off the track...they actually did him a favor by it only being four positions.....
I'm all for the one position penalty for cutting the track/not letting off when going off track, but this does show why a blanket 1 spot penalty or 1 lisence point won't work in every situation. He gained way more of an advantage going in the grass than 1 position or 1 slap on the wrist point.
There wasn’t a rider on the gate who wouldn’t have done the same thing. Just ask Mosiman.

Do we think Levi's was intentional? He had the first gate pick and took the far outside of the start gate, seems he should have been 3 or 4 over with a straight line to the first corner.

What does intent have to do with it? Why is this so difficult for people to understand? It’s very simple if you go off the track and gain positions (Levi) you will get a position penalty…if you go off the track and don’t gain a position (Jett) you get a license points penalty….it’s not fucking rocket surgery…
I don't think he meant intent should factor into the penalty. Just bench racing, because looking at that gate and how it immediately shoots into a curve unless you go off the track, it's a question worth asking. That strategy peaked with Reed in 2018 (19?) at Ironman!

Yes he did it intentionally racers have been doing that at Budds since the start was moved there.
As soon as I saw him lined up there I knew what he was going to do.
Since when do they put those things on a start???
You want them to pinch the gates faster later when everyone is wide open?? Kitchen chose that gate to run the grass line and it didn’t work out

My problem with the call is Kitchen gets a 4 position penalty and Moseman who did the same exact thing on the outside got docked 3 positions. Yes Kitchen got the hole shot but Moseman gained a ton of positions also.
I get Jett only getting penalized series points as he did not gain an advantage because he came back on track loosing positions.
I will say it again the only thing the AMA does consistent is inconsistency!
Jett got a license point not a championship point deduction.
I like the rules to keep guys on track but sometimes you get pushed off like all 3 of these guys did today and you have nowhere to go. Webb didn’t get penalized when he went around the outside at Red Bud. I just hate that they decide to enforce these rules at the end of a season and it alters the championship (in Levi’s case). It’s a rule that needs to be looked at in the off season. Just really weird that they waited until round 9 and 10 of an 11 round series to start popping guys for it.
Deegan got penalized in the first round as did others. The problem is with inconsistency not the rules.
Deegan got penalized at Round 3 (Thunder Valley) and they were pretty blatant track cuts.
