The history of this area in terms of revolutionary war is fascinating.
The land across river in video is still owned by descendants of man built this fort house
The " over mountain men" who gathered at sycamore shoals ,a fort in Elizabethton ,and marched to King's mountain in SC is a huge turning point in war.
Major Ferguson in 1780 set word over here that he was gonna burn pillage rape the country side if didn't lay arms.
1000 men marched 300 miles , had to been most men here.
Major Ferguson is still there, LoL, buried on King's mountain.
The oldest son of earnest fought in battle
John Crockett fought , his son Davy born 6 years later 2 miles up river. There was a museum and his log cabin before flood, all gone now .
John Sevier lived 4 miles up river when governor of Tennessee, Knoxville was capital then , he is buried in court yard.
Sevier was bad ass, governor Tennessee twice, 1st and 3rd. Governor of state of Franklin,which is fascinating story itself. Greeneville was it's capital.
Greene county and Greenville ( county I live in) ,is named after Nathaniel Greene, the badass that sent British out of Carolinas and never came back .
All kinds history like that here.

WoW Teggers, that's good to know you still talk to him! I met both you guys the one and only time I raced Loretta's in 2004.
The next year I qualified and everything by doing the qualifiers in AZ and Glen Helen.
The day we were leaving for the 1700 mile journey I got T-boned in my Van a few miles from my house, but that's a whole other nightmare story that turned out good by camping in the White Mountains with Jan (RIP😢)
Back to hillbilly, he met me there and was a GREAT guy and was giving me pointers as I was like a fish out of water in that deep loamy farm soil being from AZ and SoCal hard packed tracks. Ended up 13th out of 40 and I could not believe how fast and crazy some of these old guys and ex-pros were in the 45 class! On my first start, two guys tangled up on the straight and one of them cartwheeled right in front of me, barely missing my head! 😲
The first lap you would have thought they were racing for the World Championship as they were swapping and crashing!
I did not fall once all week and I was pretty proud of that as that track and competition is pretty intense.
He had extra goggles set up for me etc and spent a few hours with us in our camp after the races.
I showed him the tape from my video interviews of racers around the world from back in the day. The one with Hannah and DeCoster had him rolling! 🤣😂
One of the days we had the chicken fest at EIdave's set up along vendor row and that is when I met you and others from here.
It was a fantastic week that I will never forget for the rest of my life and it was great to meet hillbilly.I'm glad he reads this.I need to get his phone number somehow.And yes I agree 100%! He should be able to post here.He was as hardcore moto as they come and had great stories that would enhance the forum.
