Over the last couple of races JT keeps trying to create this “Are the Lawrence’s going to start fighting” narrative.
Like how fucking gay and petty do you have to be that you want to try and create beef between bothers for our entertainment? Is moto that desperate for story lines that we have to get family fighting each other?
Watching Hunter having to explain in a post race presser that he’s not mad at his brother for racing him for a title is fucking weak. Part of me wishes one of them would just come out like the ankle question and be like listen, we are family. We are never going to hate each other over racing so stfu
Some old heads at NBC have convinced them that “television is about storytelling” so all the production meetings are focused on generating storylines that they can write scripts around and shoot interviews about. Then they can pepper the broadcast with those stupid little video clips of the riders answering specific questions about the storylines the production wants to portray. Because just reacting to the unfolding competition in front of them is not enough!!
Yeah the storylines are 100% pushed way too hard. I watch old school broadcasts all the time & honestly I think they could learn a thing or two from them.
Bailey/Eckman or Meyers(sp)/Despain would be 10x better than what we have now.
It’s racing. Leave the storyline BS to the “Real Women of ***” crowd.
Maybe we watched a different race. All I heard was there’s a trust you have racing your brother, that it’s unlike anyone else.
And I believe that Hunter and Jett know that neither of them are going to go Barcia on the other.

And I heard.. “Hunter is definitely taking advantage of Jett being his little brother” among other little quips about how “friendly” are they going to be when this happens or that happens.
If you can’t see the narrative being pushed that’s your problem
No, it’s you that obviously has a problem. You came and posted this long winded, self absorbed, diatribe.
Actually, I try to listen to them as little as possible and just try to enjoy the race.
The sixth grade drama is designed for people of your intellect………and it’s working.
Most of the MX commentators suck. Most does not include Paul. Since there are no two-strokes sounds or smells for us to appreciate, turn off the volume and just watch the race.
well, when Haiden holeshot the first moto, i thought Weege was having an orgasm.....then he dumped it and Weege left the booth for cleanup. Seriously you couldn't tell the pre-race hype by the NBC booth regarding Haiden's better than good chance this was his day?
Read my above comment. I try to ignore the broadcast as much as possible. Find Weege to be very annoying. He’s a little too, “light in his loafers”, for me.
I’ve tried watching with the sound off completely…..
The production is getting worse and worse. It's exhausting listening to all their shite. I'm just muting more and more.
I honestly can’t understand why so much focus on the broadcast crew and the things they say. The racing has been great in both classes, I honestly have no complaints about anything other than I don’t care for the split screen and even now I’m starting to get used to it.
Thanks for the input Bondo...
Thanks for the input Karen …….
I mostly watch it with the sound muted, only turning it back on when something unexpected happens. On the plus side, I don’t have to listen to all the unrelated promotional stuff NBC insists on adding, as well as the ads for the SMX playoffs.
Its a show. Has to be some storytelling.
Should it be, "well jett and hunter made it here this weekend, we expect them to go 1-2. thanks for watching".
It’s a professional motor racing championship. There’s plenty of drama in the points chase, in the constant battle of man and machine versus the track and the elements, as well as the historical precedents of the series. Trying to find conflict where there is none is a waste.
And thanking people for watching is ridiculous.
Nah, it’s a broadcast of a ”professional” motosport.
Unfortunately NBC, Bondo, Weege and JS really struggle to portray it for what it is.
If we want a show we can watch WWE or some FMX demo, but this is racing and it’s televised because people want to watch the racing. Or at least the core fan base, some of the new ones want to see drama but we should not cater towards those needs.
“I don’t listen to it at all. I actually mute it”
Also says it’s designed for 6th grade drama.
Which is it? You watch and not listen or is it you listen and know it’s made for drama?
If you’re going to admit you don’t even care to listen to what they say, why are you here arguing what I’m hearing? Pretty crazy you think you have a leg to stand on with no information, supposedly
Pit Row
Yesterday they went split screen to show the "battle for 7th"... lol... where the guy in 7th was 5 seconds behind 6th and 5 seconds ahead of 8th.. lmaooo... what a battle!!
Who’s the dude from Beaver that was a hot pro prospect late 90’s until he broke his femur? Hold on, actually I think he was from Richfield.
No idea. I’ve only lived in Beaver for about 5 years.
What the f**k does that have to do with being gay?
I like Bubba in the booth! It’s like listening to a friend talk about the race while it’s going on.
I am thankful RC and Will are not there.
I’d like a combination of Bubba, Emig, and AC.
Just like the shadows, you could tell they already had several stories to tell about them. It wasn’t even sunny, yet they still kept bringing them up.
Meanwhile you look at the side of the screen and see the gap for first narrowing from 2 seconds. To 1.7, to 1.3, to 1 second etc. and they just don’t cut to the battle for the lead.
Amazing how much the broadcast team miss. How does Jett crash while leading and no camera catches it? Even if we aren’t watching him live at the time. You would think somewhere had a camera on the leader.
I don’t care who’s blabbing
you have one job. Know the goddamn sport, show the goddamn battles. If you see Deegan coming through the pack on Barcia and things could get spicy, show it. If the top two are within two seconds of each other, stay on it.
How the hell can I do a better job of that on the couch then these people.
I will take Weege and Stew any day over RC and fat foreigner, and JT is the man he better not ever go anywhere, just show the battles.
and how they didn’t have a video of jett crashing on that jump is beyond me. What the hell is that cameraman doing behind the jump where he went down when the leaders are going by?? You would think at all times there would be a camera on Jett and Hunter and Deegan, etc..
Crazy
No they really wouldn’t nor woukd anyone else because they have to follow what production gives them.
It's outrageous.
Jett and Hunter were going blazing fast and were only 1 to 2 seconds apart and they split screen to a completely irrelevant battle for 7th.
I'm tired of how these fuckwits treat our sport.
I like Stew's funny comments. However, when discussing the race he needs to learn the art of brevity and clarity. As for Weege, he's good on podcasts but his voice lacks the necessary gravitas for play by play. He needs to sound more serious.
I reckon they've got rid of a sizable amount of real cameras situated around the track and resort to drones. Wayyyy too much drone footage. Presumably because they don't want to spend any money. Bush League.
