Wear a good helmet!

I wadded up today. Don’t remember anything right before the crash. I got my memory back sitting in my trailer. I guess I whisky throttled over a berm and landed 50 feet away. I was told I rode my bike back to the trailer. I don’t remember it. I sat for a bit and got my senses back. Head is ok now but I am pretty banged up. Back, ribs and my thigh is bruised.

Until last year I always wore cheap helmets. Lucky for me Joe guilted me into buying a Bell. Thank god he did.

I had a decent chest protector on but I'm switching to an air vest.

$100 head, $100 helmet.

Glad you’re mostly no worse for wear, old friend.

You ended up a ways from the track, it looks like.

Glad it wasn't worse, buddy.

That’s ugly. Glad you are mostly ok and had a good helmet on.   Looks like you’ll be in the market for a new one sometime soon. Heal up soon.

6D and A-Stars MX Tech for me. I do have a Bell street helmet.

Glad your feeling better! Probably need to replace helmet. Does Bell have a rebuild option?

I pu a v3 fox helmet for 307.00 1 st ride & with the helmet.  On 6-27 in the dry deep sand off a corner it hooked up . Like it hit Velcro hardest I ever accelerated, including 1,200 ho drag car.  A happy spike of yes, hit a whoop landed into the 4th . & the bike kicked rear end up pneumatic like. Instant ejection 1st thought oh no, then  I got this arms out soak it up then hyper roll.  Arms didn’t stop me slammed my head & shoulder . Quick front flip broke 7 ribs near my spine into a big hard whoop.  Only had a quick white flash , I was awake for the front flip.  When I got up 1/2 an ice cream pale of sand left my helmet .  My last v3 is from 09 , new M cut into my forehead. I ran the end of a 3 lb hammer across it , to make it fit great.  New helmets ride high on your forehead . I like the 09 feel better.  Neck to my eye swelled up 2,3 inches out .  ICU thought I hit a tree.  My lung did that hrs later it filled my body full of bubbles for 2 1/2 weeks. IMG 5775 2

Glad you’re ok, take some time if you feel you had/have a concussion before getting back after it

My first ride back after a broken scapula. Dad picks me up from school on Thursday with a new bike in the truck - 2002 KX125. My first "off the showroom floor" new bike. I was stoked.

We go to Dade City for Thursday practice and I hit the track. Next thing I remember I'm sitting on the tailgate staring at somebody's new KX125 with no numbers on it.

"Who's bike is that?"
- Yours
"But I my bike is an RM."
- You got this KX today
"Sick"

5 minutes later....
"Who's bike is that?"

And repeat for the whole hour drive home.

That was not my first concussion. Brain must have been a little soft still.

Ordinarily I'd make some wisecrack about how it's a good thing you didn't hurt something important. Glad you're more or less okay, Alph. Take it easy for a bit, second impact syndrome is a thing and probably gets moreso as we turn into old men.

I had something similar many years ago, got hit in the head (around the 1 min mark on the video).

Entire days memory was gone, I 'came too' in the back of the ambulance. My Mum was there and said I had been chatting absolute shite, asking the same questions on repeat, then all of sudden I came back around and was fine. Was a very surreal experience to essentially start my day in an ambulance.

The video was scary to watch back, you can hear me ask a marshall to grab my go pro, which had broken off my helmet, I then start my bike and carry on riding. I'd only been to this track once or twice before so wasn't very familiar with it. My Dad eventually found me pulled up at the side of the track and asked me what was going on.

I'd take it very steady for a while if I were you, you need to give your brain time to heal. So limit screens, light, noise, basically anything that challenges your brain. Lots of sleep and rest. I felt off for a while after that crash!

I’m glad you’re ok but it might be best to get checked out, you rarely get 2nd chances with your head.

Yea, I was told I did that for over a hour too after a bad wreck after riding tired. Same question on repeat. Remember most of the day, then saying one more lap, then "waking up" at the hospital. Supposedly never lost consciousness but it was the weirdest feeling sort of snapping back into it, but in the ER and wondering how the hell I got there.

Years later found out my C2-C3 also got relocated higher than where they should be

I was wearing a Bell Moto 9 Flex. I took a look at it today. Some scratches on the outside and some deformation on the inside. My head has some marks on it and is tender wear I hit it. Still don’t know what happened. I stayed home from work today.

Or your body , collapse a lung, lacerations , hole in it , 7 broken ribs near your spine , shoulder is done.  You die repeatedly, worst pain & pressure of any injury. Broken. Back, femur , blown knee etc.  I,d rate that pain as a 2 compared to a chest injury.  You can’t breathe or get 1/4 of a word out.  Every minute is critical to get into icu at a trauma center.  A regular er your a goner.
