I think a lot of the reason for the various carnage at Houston (Stewart/JT$, Sipes/Wharton, Barcia/Wilson) was that track was the most one-lined and tractionless track I have ever seen.

Total bummer about Kdub crashing out of his home race, which he most likely would have won. I'm very glad he was not seriously injured. His crash and the bike ramming him was not pretty.

Same here cp. I was pumped for windham, he is one of those guys you just want to cheer for everytime he is out front. Glad it wasn't more serious. The track seemed really really slick, as guyb said, flat tracking up the face of a triple is sketchy!

For sure, and they were all doing it. Better men than me, by far.

But it was the rhythm lane that really did the damage.

Which track was slicker, Houston or Phoenix? Seems like a toss up.

Even the Sipes incident with Wharton looked a bit like Sipes came in hot and realized too late there was no way the front wheel was going to grip and turn. It looked a bit like someone hitting black ice.

"I think what happened is he had such a dominant race at Anaheim 2 last weekend that he simply believed he was "on" and could do just about anything he wanted."

They were both slick, but it just seemed like there were very few places to pass at Reliant. It looked to me (FWIW) that Wharton was really holding up Sipes. Sipes had set a very fast practice time (fastest?) and after a while of being held up, he may have gotten more aggressive than normal. Admittedly I am a Sipes fan and a move that aggressive seemed out of character. He just seems like a really nice kid and he's from KY and I'm from IL. Biased here, guilty as charged.

Yep. That's what I saw looking at the replay. Still, any time you take yourself out, people are going to question the intelligence of the move.

You could tell how sketchy the traction was by watching the Dungey/Canard battle. It came down to clutch/throttle control. They both looked like they were tiptoeing through the corners.

Sipes isn't a dirty rider, but he should've known (and probably did know) that it was that slick before he went in there like that.

the wide turns with big jumps right out of the corner made for guys going to the inside and outside, that wide turn made it easy for riders to run it inside, the turn before that straight where malcolm crashed was the same setup.

sipes pulled the same trigger 30 other guys pulled, he just ran it in a little to much!

Good take all around on the race, I have criticized your take from time to time in the past but now your style seems unbiased and fair unlike weege and matthes scribblings.. good job.

Poor racing, poor passing? Seemed to be plenty of both to me. They only have so much room to work with with all the extra stuff on the floor and decreased use of stadium floor perimeter. All of the riders were able to see the track layout in advance and get ready to race that setup. They should show up to race and give it all they got.
