Can only assume it’s both pain and motion.
Jett said before the season started that he was struggling with getting to the rear brake in certain body positions (lack of motion), and he already had a second operation to address some scar tissue/ healing issues. Pain from more of that can be a real mofo.
I don’t know why people are surprised. You just crushed everyone and had a problem out of your control take the win away. You just got caught and passed by your brother and can’t ride the way you want, has to be very frustrating. These guys get flamed too hard. I love to see the raw emotion. I’d be pissed with cameras in my face, but that’s part of it.
Answers some of my questions, for sure. So I walk back most of my criticism in the other thread.
Jett has been getting hurt a lot. He finally has a injury that has changed his ability to ride the way he likes to ride. I hope his foot recovers 100% and he can return to his normal riding. One thing for sure he needs to find a way to stay healthy.

Who fuckin cares either way dude
What's odd/sad is it wasnt' if I've understood correctly due to pushing hard in a race, but rather just 'practice riding at their own track'... so wasn't it just a freak really odd accident? ... doesn't make it better in any way, actually it makes it worse if the truth is he tried someone super crazy and their private track... but then again, I have no clue AND I think it was just a really unfortunate accident that can happen to anyone.
word is it was a really small double you can do in your sleep and he wasn’t locked in an cartwheeled
Jet said in an interview he thinks his foot might of brushed the shifter and put it into false neutral
It used to look like winning was coming so easy that I was worried Jett could get board with moto and retire young like RV. This foot injury may keep that fire burning and make him even better than ever. Hopefully his foot/leg can fully heal while hes racing and he can get back closer to 100% by next season .
I worried that Jett may miss the entire year when I heard of his injury. I had a bad foot injury that killed my riding at around his age. And I had surgery and PT by the same place that worked on the Red Sox, Patriots and some Olympic skiers. It was wild to see the difference between it and regular PT. They had some machines that were supposed to help speed up the healing too. I did everything my insurance would cover, or that I could afford to pay for out of pocket. I started PT while still in a cast. And I'm sure that Jett went much father with what he did. I was worried that Jett may have to skip the entire season to try and get back to 100% sooner. I hope he's able to keep progressing and healing while riding . I hope that this injury is not what dictates when he decides to stop racing, and that its just a setback on his road to his place in the record books.
I feel like Jett knows Hunter is just as good as him now and was sour about it. Not a hill I’m willing to die on but between Hunter’s reaction to “I broke him” and how sour Jett acted at Red Bud I sense some tension.
Hunter is pissed he finally has an opportunity to beat his brother and his bike is costing him points. Jett is pissed because he thought 70-80% of his best would be good enough to win. He won Hangtown and Thunder Valley and was feeling good but now he's realizing how much big bro has improved. He's got a real fight on his hands the rest of the year. A lot of fans are pissed because they're realizing Jett's injury really is still holding him back and he is still good enough to spank everyone but his brother. Maybe he never fully recovers but he'll adapt to riding with his foot, he's only 22yrs old. Then it's back to it being game over. He's the most talented rider to ever throw a leg over a bike IMO.
Surely no one wonders why Hunter was pissed off but I read an interview with Jett on Vurb where he said riding is his happy place and at the moment the injury has taken away that happy place and it's frustrating he can't do the things he wants to do on the bike.. I'd assume it's compounded if it means he'll start to lose races as well..
I find it very hard to believe he's salty about Hunter beating him, he seemed ok with that after the second moto but I guess it was a different situation.
I’ve also been noticing a lot of sketchy high-speed leg dabs lately from Jett. He’s already blown an ACL with a leg dab in supercross, and now it seems his lack of balance outdoors is increasing the likelihood of a repeated injury - or worse.
Wasn't the bike it was a rock, it started fine and he continued the race with no issues
The biggest challenge to Jett's career might not be Deegan like everyone expected, but his own ankle.
Deegan said Jett is exaggerating his injury and it doesn’t affect his riding tho
All you have to do is watch some clips of Jett this year, VS past seasons and You can see how much it impacts him. It may not have a giant impact on his overall speed that he's shown. But You can see that it impacts his technique and ability to use the rear brakes.
I myself had a pretty bad foot injury around the same age and landing from jumps hurt, it was always stiff and hard to shift with. It also made me hesitant in a lot of areas and ultimately for me, it restricted my riding so much that it took the fun away. I couldn't do jumps that I was totally comfortable doing because my foot would hurt too much when I landed. And it totally took the fun out of riding.
Of course Jett's skills on the bike are lightyear's better than I ever dreamed. And there have been a lot of medical advances in the last 20ish years since I was injured. That and his ability to ride being worth millions of dollars, so I'm sure that he's doing everything possible to get better. I know that I did that too and had some of the best Dr.s at the time that told me there wasn't anything more that could be done for me at the time no mater how much more $$ I was willing to spend. I don't think it really takes having a similar injury to see how its impacting him. Anybody that has ridden that has had any type of injury can see how he's not riding the same.
Maybe Jett is exaggerating it some, but it for sure impacts his riding to a noticeable level. Its hard to argue that he was not doing better before the injury than he is now. How much of that is the injury? WHo knows, but I think it's likely causing a lot of it.
When I saw the forecast for Red Bud I knew it was Hunters to win. With Jett not able to ride as much I figured that fitness would come into things a bit more than the earlier races have and that Jett would be at a disadvantage. With Southwick's forecast to be a little cooler its harder to really say who will win. I had a strong feeling that Hunter would win at Red Bud. But Southwick rewards Jetts light on the bike riding style. So if he's able to ride well I see him being a threat still. I am disappointed that I'm unable to get out to Southwick this year for what may be the best race in a longtime. But I'll be watching from my office. It could should be epic.
