No idea on that one, but either way the argument will be that the promoter didn't take adequate steps to prevent the person from being on the race course so it's still on the promoter.

I hate to agree with a quadtard, but if I park my car on train tracks I don't think the railroad is liable for damage.

If you are in your car, the train conductor has plenty of time to stop, but instead goes full throttle when he sees you and rams you as hard as possible. Then when that doesn't clear you of track he continues trying to do everything in his power to run you over. I'm no Esquire but that would probably start a lawsuit.

It was despicable behavior by the racer, no matter how frustrated he was with the idiot spectators.

Great point!  But what if there are 3 people tied to the other track that will be killed if the switch is flipped, and I'm the only one that can flip the switch?

Always fun ethical games. Are the people fat?

Pretty sure there's been big settlements paid out over railroad crossings that weren't marked or that didn't have adequate signals!

Why was this moved to non-moto?

If one of those spectators had hit their head on a rock a bit harder and died, or been permanently disabled, or if they'd gotten something torn off by the chain on a quad, this would be an entirely different conversation.....

Did it sort of look like the route was actually going away from the camera but another couch appeared to get stuck so the two closest to the camera took a sudden left to try to avoid the traffic jam?  It definitely seemed like the folks who got ran over thought that they were lining the race path, not standing in the middle of it.

Are you being serious?   This has been going on for many years. Do you see course workers in that video trying to clear the spectators? Have you ever seen course workers trying to clear the track at any of the hundreds of videos online?   how about you tell me what they are doing to prevent this??  And no, putting up a banner and reinforcing no spectators on the track isn't nearly enough. oh yea, they said "never turn your back to oncoming racers".....  well if you wasn't on the track that shouldn't be an issue...

Ill just leave this right here....

Needed to save space on the main page for updates about the Micky Dymond and Jeff Ward bicycle vacation.

Accidentally hitting a spectator is one thing. Using them for traction is another. Thats not ok in my book.
Trying to hold in how I actually feel. I hope that girl is ok.

I looked up info about the rider, John Glauda

He's from New Jersey.  His father owns the largest privately owned trash company in NYC (Action Carting Environmental Services).

So if we're applying stereotypes here we need to do the mafia one, not the redneck one.

Pity for all involved. The racer, the "victim", the promoter, the sponsors. I can explain why. For something as absolutely fucked up as this to happen, all parties had to cooperatively be stupid and negligent. What are you doing at a quad race, let alone ON a quad race track? Why are you sponsoring or promoting quad racing, let alone quad racing with audience participation? What are you doing racing a quad on a track that you know spectators - drunk spectators - are involved? I just feel so much pity all these people were to damn dumb to prevent this. We all know shit like this happens daily in this country too, just a lot less public. If you are going to be dumb, you better be tough.
