An American Werewolf in London (depends on what you mean by old).

The Lion in Winter

Gone with The Wind  - not overly interested in the story (though to be fair it isn't just a dumb romance either) but Iv'e never seen a film that made me feel like I was witnessesing civil war America quite like this one - some of the scenes are just crazy, obviously no cgi in sight...

The Forbidden Planet

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the Donald Sutherland one - free on youtube at the moment).

Not old but.... Zodiac (2007) - also currently free on youtube.

All really good movies. Invasion of the body snatchers with Donald Sutherland is definitely the better.💯

1930 Howard Hughes movie HELL’s ANGELS. Unreal aerial dogfighting scenes for its time.

I haven't seen Hell's Angels and didn't really know much about the film but I just found this 20 minute documentary on YouTube. Pretty amazing story on many levels.

And you're right about the dogfighting scenes. Amazing more of the pilots weren't killed. There was one scene in the script that was so dangerous that the film's lead stunt pilot, the famous air racer Paul Mantz, refused to do it. Hughes jumped in the plane and did it himself and was nearly killed in the process. (Sadly, Mantz was killed in 1965 while filming the final scenes for The Flight of the Phoenix.)

Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man was another great one.

Saturn13 was a good old sci-fi

When I was a boy in the late 70's on Saturdays they would show an old movie on one of the local TV stations,  3 or 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Every year they would show The African Queen.

The leach scene! Humphrey Bogart has to get out and push the boat through a shallow spot and when he gets back in the boat he's covered in leaches. Bleh!

Every time i wade around a muddy, murky pond i think of that. 😬

Same my Brother, same. I stayed up late one night, around 6 years old I want to say, and my Dad put that movie on, and damn, the leach scene messed me up for life.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I will always flash back to that core moment.

I forget if it was free HBO week or what.  But several years in a row my mom had a no exception policy that we made the pilgrimage 1 mile away to my grandparents house to watch in full the nearly 4 hour movie GIANT because they had cable and we didn't.  It's actually a good movie.  The same rule applied for African Queen.  I probably watched that movie 10 times growing up.

I watch Turner Classic movies lots.  My wife laughs about it all the time.

To add to this, the leach scene in "Stand by Me" just reinforced my fear of those blood suckers.

John Carpenters The Thing. Quite possibly my favourite of all time.

Ha! Just firing up Little Big Man right now. My girlfriend has never seen it and since we live in the Black Hills, she needs to see this movie.

I saw American graffiti the first time at a drive in with my mom, dad and sister. It’s a great movie. Several unknown actors at the time went on to be huge. Harrison Ford was probably the biggest Star. My favorite character was Toad.
