HRC hole shot predictions for 2026 MX

How many hole shots will the HRC bikes get this year?  I'm going to guess 15 of 22.

If it weren't for Prado being out there I would guess even more, because no other factory has been able to duplicate the HRC cheat code yet for starts.

The Honda bikes forks look to be lower than the rest at the gate. Dedication to start practice & endless info, ie 3/4 or 2/5 throttle off gate then full throttle after 0.7 or 1.1 seconds keep both feet down for 1.6 or 2.3 seconds. Change gea4 after 3.1 or 3.3 seconds. They know what works for them & it shows

Wouldn't shock me if Sexton or Prado get the holie...

The purpose of this thread was to predict who wins the jump off the gate to the first turn, but since the holeshot line is past the first turn sometimes it tells a different story depending on who rails the first turn, so I'll tally both:

Pala 450 Results:

Drag Race to 1st turn:
Moto 1: HRC 96
Moto 2: HRC 96

Holeshot:
Moto 1: Triumph 31, (HRC 96 2nd)
Moto 2: HRC 96

Hangtown 450 Results:

Drag Race to 1st turn:
Moto 1: HRC 1, (HRC 96 2nd)
Moto 2 Start 1:  HRC 1, (HRC 96 2nd)
Moto 2 Start 2: Yamaha 2, (HRC 1 2nd)

Holeshot:
Moto 1: HRC 1, (HRC 96 2nd)
Moto 2 Start 1:  HRC 1, (HRC 96 2nd)
Moto 2 Start 2: Yamaha 2, (HRC 1 2nd)

YTD:
HRC has won 4 of 5 drag races from the gate to the 1st turn and 3 of 5 hole shots to the line.

Officially they’re two from four, so currently running at 50%

I'm tallying the details because the official "holeshot" data doesn't tell the whole story.  Technically for the purpose of this thread HRC is running at 80% right now because only Cooper Webb has beaten them to the first turn in 1 of 5 starts.  Haarup did not out drag Hunter to the first turn at Pala, he just nailed the first turn better and cut under Hunter.  The point of this is to document which bikes are hooking up down the start straight, and right now it's 4 of 5 for HRC.

Yeah cool. Funny how years ago a holeshot was first one to the corner; when did that change?

Thunder Valley 450 Results:

Drag Race to 1st turn:
Moto 1: HRC 1, (HRC 96 2nd)
Moto 2:  HRC 1

Holeshot:
Moto 1: HRC 1
Moto 2:  HRC 1, (HRC 96 2nd)

YTD:
HRC has won 6 of 7 drag races from the gate to the 1st turn and 5 of 7 hole shots to the chalk line.
HRC drag race winning percentage off the line: 85.7%

Pure domination so far with HRC only losing 1 drag race to Cooper Webb and Hangtown.

High Point 450 Results:

Drag Race to 1st turn:
Moto 1: HRC 96
Moto 2: HRC 1

Holeshot:
Moto 1: HRC 96
Moto 2: HRC 96, (HRC 1 second)

YTD:
HRC has won 8 of 9 drag races from the gate to the 1st turn and 7 of 9 hole shots to the chalk line.
HRC drag race winning percentage off the line: 88.88%

I'm not sure we've ever seen such domination with starts in the history of the sport, especially if we take into account the few years.

The 250s are a different story. Whatever advantage they had last year (seemed to always see either Chance or Jo out front off the start) is gone.
They look noticeably under powered relative to the PC Kawis, which seem to always pull ahead at the 30-40 foot mark.

Look at the liability which stems from the current AMA allowances and it's effect on the first turn scenarios...  See everyone in a line (except JL) and often 15 bikes wide...  Who gets hurt next?  Who loses 20 points next?

GET RID of fork-lock liability devices...  as a side benefit, no one has to deal with that DUMB shit gate burden of setting it...  Win-win..

The irony - MC and Skip started it, invented it, and now MC outlawed it first !!!  (Is not allowed in his Holeshot elimination races) Smart man.

Totally agree,  time to get rid of holeshot devices.  With all the start map options it makes sense.

I'd ditch the grates too.

So is there any data to support the hypothesis that all the starting technologies cause more issues? Or is it just opinion?

Wasn't implying they cause issues, but the combination of grates-start maps-devices lessens the skill involved.
