They look AMAZING. I was this close to getting a heritage edition tc300. They had a factory edition 450 for dang near the same price and I couldn’t help myself.

Congrats dude, things a looker and I hear they are ROCKETS.

Do something with the side panels. Get some Chrome vinyl and put it on the side. If we are going retro, its gotta have the aluminum side gas tank like my 1981

Yessss!

Every time someone buys a 2-stroke, an angel gets his wings. And another small piece of the thumper dynasty dies. Both of which I support.

Give us a ride report. I’m riding my 450 first time tomorrow. Went over it today, checked some bolts, shock spring, fiddled around, looking forward to the first rip tomorrow.

Nothing to gripe about, they are great bikes. If you want to really be impressed, the remap and the head by TSP really wakes that bike up.

Congratulations!

It's always nice to see somebody with a garage full of bikes, makes me feel a little less insane....🤪

Update: Ride report.

Put an hour on the bike yesterday at my local track just to do full break-in/shakedown runs.  Overall, bike is very nice.

Engine: Had read a lot on the TBI engine before pulling the trigger.  Many say that they are down on power from the carb version and I'd say that's partially true.  This is definitely not as snappy as my '17 TC250, but it feels much smoother and more linear.  The maps make a difference also: white map is tamer, green map is crisper.  The thing will pull from a ridiculously low RPM also.  I think the stock gearing (14:49) is not right for me and I'd prefer to have 14:48 or 14:50.  The 48 would make 2nd more useful or the 50 would make 3rd more useful.  That's a minor thing.

Chassis: I don't really notice the reduced height once moving.  I was really worried about this but it's a non-issue (and it's really not much different).  And I really like the handling of this gen chassis and platform.  Feel is very similar to my '24 KTM 450, but maybe slightly more compliant.  The 23-24 felt more like the Japanese bikes to me: sharper and less forgiving.

Suspension: Initial impression is pretty good but need more time to get right air pressure and rear spring.  I have very little pre-load on the rear spring I installed, so will probably go down 1 rate.  Then need to get right air pressure. Then can fiddle with clickers more.  Doesn't do anything weird.  I do feel like they may have different settings compared to the KTM bikes.  Almost like there is a little more comfort initially, but then the damping ramps up faster, which can be felt as "harsh".  Feels like it's in between the SX and XC line, but closer to the SX.  More on this in future threads.

Bottom line: This feels like a refined version of the 23-24 bikes.  Engine is surprisingly easy to ride, and this blurs the line between 250 2-stroke and 350 even more.  Suspension is pretty good out of the box and will get better with some more time on it.  Looking forward to putting some hours on this one.

👍

Maybe experiment with incrementally lowering the oil level to see if that slows the ramp-up and alleviates the "harshness"?
