Is this related to logos used for graphics? Confused.
I'd guess that too.
I bought some fork decals off eBay and didn’t even realize until they came it was motoconcepts. But, I didn’t know if it was THE motoconcepts or some eBay company using that name as well. I’m sure they weren’t licensed Enzo stuff.
Did the stickers say Enzo?

they trademarked "reretro" and have all the period logos. trademark is ironic imo. dunno what etiquette is with marketing photos and ancillary brand stickers being visible. though i get the issue is probably related to actually selling them in channels like ebay.
The real criminal here is Paul who claims strava segments on his e bike. Straight to jail.
I never thought I would agree with you. But here we are. Don’t like them cheaters on Strava
Oh no, my lobster is too buttery, my steak is too juicy, and another company is helping advertise my company for free!
RC said it's ok because they did it all the time back in the day
Keep in mind that Paul can be a self important hot head before taking this too seriously
Find this bizarre considering Renthal ripped off the ODI cam system so blatantly.
Royalties from decal companies required but ok to copy other companies products and market them as your own. That’s cool.
Oof. That should be the real guts of this thread. Swindler behavior
So, MCR is doing a “retro” graphics kit?
I’m guessing it’s just about the logos…& the “licensing”?
Based on that, I don’t get the outrage.
If I’m recalling correctly, these are some of Honda’s previous “looks” & I’m thinking that Honda is the only license holder on the look of their various race bikes/teams…and that would seem to include Mitch’s “Peak” years.
Anyways…I think the bikes look pretty damn good.
Maybe that’s the TRT
The jokester in me can't believe there has never been Peribinjos Realist troll register at Vital to post. 😁
Love ya Paul, you're cool but I'm not getting the outrage.
Paul is right about logo usage. At the very least, he is in agreement with all the OEMs in the moto business and virtually all large companies everywhere.
A logo is a trademark that brings value to the product it is on. Companies who own trademarks defend their usage diligently. If some 3rd party wants to do business using the logo, it must be licensed for use, and any trademark holder can deny that use or allow collect payment as they see fit.
For instance, when I was at Suzuki, we licensed the Suzuki name and red "S" mark to lots of various accessory manufacturers for use on Suzuki models so that the trademark was visible; it enhanced the value of the accessory to most buyers, who believe it is more "genuine." (And it is, because we strictly monitored the product spread that any such company was using; high-quality products only.)
In the case of graphics companies, we allowed free reign for the most part, (no fees collected,) but any company in question had to obtain a license first and strictly follow the logo usage guidelines.
A logo is intellectual property. Simply using one without permission is akin to simply blueprinting a CRF50 and selling it under your own brand name.
You know we are bombarded constantly with things on social media and the news designed to elicit an emotional response and I can ignore them, but this aggression will not stand man.
This is a dumb question because I’m ignorant of the facts.
Do the majority of graphic companies have permission to use other companies logos as part of the design?
Pit Row
Be careful with Paul, I know a guy that used to spend many late night hours making custom, trick ventilated CRF side panels for a certain race team and when the bikes got tested by MXA, he claimed with a proud smile that it was his craftsmanship ....
* Rental products should be avoided too, when there is alternatives.. it's a 'market-driven' brand,, not 'product' driven.
This can really turn into a good discussion thread.
I'm clueless on how this stuff works friends so be patient.
If I want to make a replica, graphics wise, Chevy Kawi...can I? If I pay someone to replicate the KX Chevy graphics am I breaking the law?....Copyright infringement?
I'd love if Paul would come in an clarify.
Shouldn’t the companies be happy their logo is getting out to more places without paying anything for it? Copying a product, understand that’s bad mojo. Displaying a logo, yeah don’t get the uproar about it…
If some company even replicates a Full Floater Uni-Lever etc sticker, are they breaking a law?
Caring about strava is the biggest crime in here.
The only company that has been considerably pissed about this is RedBull, as far as i understand they only wanted their sponsored riders to rep their logo, IE redbull helmets, Red bull logos on the KTMs and etc....I know Decal Works refused to do it for the longest time, and if you wanted a replica graphics kit for a Redbull KTM before the factory editions came about you had to turn to eBay to get a kit, or have a local mom and pop shop do it for you. I believe you still have to provide your VIN of your KTM Factory edition now to even get replacement shrouds or graphics because of the redbull logo, otherwise they wont sell them to you.
depends.

Rich Taylor and EKS Brand/Lucid are the real criminals here
I looked through the site and honestly, probably some of THE BEST looking graphics around. Clean and race feeling, whereas at lot of the other brands either go weird and colourful, overly simple or just no flow. these graphics and most of them on the site are sick (although the KTM graphics are the weakest)
Everyone posting (and NOT based out of China) who thinks brand licensing isn’t a big deal should start printing and selling replica NFL jerseys on eBay, then start a countdown until your cease and desist letter from the NFL comes in. I’m guessing you’ll be very surprised how fast it happens, because contrary to what a lot of you seem to think, licensing is a very big deal to companies.
I know quite a few suspension companies (tuners) that won’t allow their logo’s to be printed unless they give permission to the decal company. More than a few people have had copies made, whacked them on and claimed the suspension has been tuned by said company - then when the “tuned” suspension performs poorly they blame the bloke who’s name is on the sticker.
Serious question: does Perebijinos still have any credibility?
