That was a great question from JT to Deegan. He should be commended for having the courage to ask it. It showed Deegan will lie at times.
I kind of don't blame Deegan for trying that line, though. Very creative, but it didn't pay off. Track designers/crew screwed up IMO with how they marked it. Deegan earned the penalty.

I don't blame Deegan (or the others) for trying to get that edge, and I don't blame the AMA for penalizing it. Take the chance, pay the piper.
No issue with JT commenting on it given commenting on the race is his job. Believe he got a penalty or fine for something like this way back one weekend when they decided to go hard on it. It's just a push-push back dynamic that always will be there when athletes are looking for any edge.

JT is very, very good at his job. I think he recently said on the review show that he wants to maintain a working relationship with the Deegans. That is a diplomatic way of saying they'll cut off any journalist that they don't like.
He is honest enough and confident enough in his position as a reporter to know that what Doucheboy was doing was flagrant and indefensible. Good on JT.

Thats why I said blatant lies, even the video the official used to describe the penalty it was clear the markers were there and he wasnt on the track.
I think most people watching that moto knew there would be a penalty coming his way. I believe in one of the photos in this thread, you can see the sheer’d off markers that got kicked out into the middle of the track. 🤣
Most of us who didn’t catch the race and were looking for Deegan’s track cut, couldn’t find it until the highlights came out.
