Yeah, I know Denver/Aurora intimately well. I don't recall a thatt much armed security, still have a house there. Not saying Abq is off putting, lots of sketch, even compared to that area. But...Abq is overall good in my book, down here right now, South Valley which is supposed to be bad, I don't mind it. Funny that the wannabe swat armed security isn't in areas you'd expect. What is neat is seeing the skyline with balloons on the regular, most people are cool and riding spectacular. Abq has definitely got me hooked.
Hoping to find a decent $2k or less rental in Rio Rancho prior to buying. I’ve heard that’s the place to be in terms of safety.
If your job is on the other side of the river, you’ll start to value your sanity more.
I work out of Rio Rancho currently(Intel)...very nice area. Beautiful this morning.

New Mexico is a shithole, don’t come here. Go to Texas, or stay in Colorado.
It ain’t new and it ain’t Mexico.
What’s up party people!
Took two months of negotiating but I’m finally moving bikes down here. Dropping the CR and RM off this weekend. Coming back down with the Ducati’s on Saturday.
Two Fools is the bomb!
But don't leave them bikes unattended on Central 😂.
And just in time, the dirt is money right now. Going to ride tomorrow midday if you're interested.
Unfortunately I have to rain check.
- Blown shock on the CR
- RM motor is in a box back in CO.
If you have any recommendations for shops I’ll gladly take ‘em so I can join you sooner than later!
I'd try Chad Wood Performance in Bosque Farms or David Hall at Hall Effects. David is a former factory mechanic and does a lot of suspension these days, but you might could get him to do some motor work.
Cool thread. I'm thinking of relocating to the ABQ area (looking at Rio Rancho) from SoCal. Obviously being spoiled for 30 years in the 909 area I know anywhere I go won't be as good for track riding.
Moriarty looks like a really well run track. Do they run practice most weekends? Any week day riding? I see the same folks run another track down in Tularosa. Is it any good? The track up in Aztec looks good. Sucks it's so far from the ABQ area.
Outside of moto, how is the job market? I work in IT. I see Intel has a factory out there and is building another. What so the entertainment/nightlife like in ABQ?
Thanks!
I lived there for 25 years. Had to flee to Florida. But Riding in NM is the best. Me and my kids used to ride out of the garage into the arroyo in back and had 250 sq miles of desert to play in. West of Rio Rancho out Southern or Northen Blvd. is the best riding in the USA. Desert and single track and no matter how many times you go you will always find new trails. There are numerous desert racing clubs, AZOP, WeBe, WTXRC, Worcs that are kinda close. (nothing is really close so be prepared to drive hours) MX is tough, Moriarty, Alamagordo, A new track at Sandia Motorsports?, Gallup, Aztec and a track near Santa Fe. Get on Facebook because things open and close fast. Desert racing is what I recommend, and you can train anywhere.
As mentioned in a previous comment, don’t dismiss the trials riding there. I have never ridden trials but I went with a friend who was competing at one just North of Albuquerque called San Ysidro. It was a really beautiful area and had some amazing terrain. If I lived there I would most certainly have a trials bike.
Carving random cliff jumps out of an arroyo used to make for fun afternoons. I really miss the riding Southern NM. Back in the day the homeboys did all the hard work carving trails with thieir 3 and 4 wheelers, miles of whoops
We actually just bought a house off of Southern Blvd and I take my son (about to turn 3) riding everyday on his stacyc! If I knew this would be where we were at when we moved here I would’ve been over the moon.
Also, I ended up joining the local road racing community. A really, really cool development is Suika MX is now open across from the road course! Grand opening was May 24th and they’re running open practice every Sunday from 9-3. https://www.suikacircuit.com/coming-soon-03
Wow this looks awesome! Is this where the Sandia Speedway track that shut down awhile back was? Hell, New Mexico is going to have more tracks and riding areas than SoCal here shortly.Wish I had time to hit the next practice and support this place. Hopefully they get good turnouts and stay open. Did any of you guys ride it?
Yup, back in the same spot! I wasn’t around for the original effort, but I’ve heard from the crew that built the new one they’re shooting to become the new LLAQ. They had 50+ bikes this past Sunday.
Hell yeah. This is rad.
