Why does it take a week to count votes for a Mayor race.
I just read that it will probably be next week before they declare a winner.
Paper ballots and an incredibly bloated and corrupt government. Much like this country, it all needs to be burnt to the ground and rebuilt. Makes me sad as that was and always will be my home, but it resembles nothing of the great state it once was.
If mail in votes take Pratt out of the race they will burn that place down.
So the Dems can commence their ballot harvesting, ballot hiding etc. and all the other hyjinks.
This is all very encouraging though. I have been here almost 10 years and have had the sense this place could flip eventually. This is the state that gave us Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, after all. What amazes me is how long it took the people of LA to want change (only after almost total devastation from homelessness, crime, corruption and fraud).
Even my liberal friends admit the Dem Party sucks but it's always the "lesser of two evils" argument.
Yep that's one reason I decided to go ahead and move with my job 37 years ago although with the closing of Indian Dunes and Saddleback those were the final nails in the coffin.
I see videos people post on Facebook about the homelessness crisis in LA, its unbelievable, like a third world country! Meanwhile, Newsom and mayor Bass are jerking each other off in their Mansions! 🙄🤬
The time there for me from the sixties to the mid eighties was awesome, wouldn't trade for nothing. What a great place to be born and raised especially with the Golden Years of Motocross-now not so much.

That would be ironic, considering the very basis for Pratt's run. 😁
(For those who don't know, Spencer Pratt lost his house in the Palisades fire and is one of the many people who still cannot get permits to rebuild. It is rumored that Gavin Newsom and his cronies are purposefully delaying the permits so property owners will lose hope and sell, thus allowing new, more "state-friendly" construction to go up in Malibu and the Palisades. (Or for the state to seize control over.))
The pun was intended
Newsome and about 600 other politicians need some visits from my Uncle Louie.
Ah! Now I get it. For someone as "smart" as I am, I sure am dumb sometimes!
Which race is Steve Cox in this year?!?!?!?!?!
So many angry button-smashers for simply telling the truth.
I love this place.
They don't need to cheat. Pratt has no chance in the general. California has more Republicans than any state in the country but they are outnumbered 2 to 1 by Democrats. And very few Republicans in a city like LA. It's fucking hopeless. Trump was making headway with Hispanics in California until he started in with the ICE raids. He blew away hundreds of thousands of votes just to send a few hundred packing. They arrested a whopping 800 in the first two weeks of June. At that rate all 12 million will be gone in 500 years.
It’ll take far longer than next week to declare a winner. This is a primary, so they’re only narrowing it down to the top two candidates….!
😎
"Spencer Pratt got 0 out of 24,000 votes in a late night LA"
Looks like they're not even trying to hide it.
You do realize that primaries have winners and losers, right?
And they're trying to boost #3 in order to knock a threat to their corruption.
(I do though like how he felt he needed to explain the primary system to us.
Once again cleverly using discretion to make his point to the, unwashed masses)
Hahaha! Nice.
I'd laugh harder at all of this if it wasn't a training session for the nozzles that are moving to more level headed states and trying to impose their nonsense on the rest of us.
Or asking what I thought was a pretty reasonable question.
Hell, we had a Senate run-off for a primary and knew who won before we went to bed on election night.
Pit Row
A simple solution would be to end the collection of mail in ballots the week before the polls open.
Regardless of the what people think about the validity of voting in CA., Spencer Pratt is a self-serving, attention seeking douche that no concerned citizen of LA County would ever vote for. His only platform is "the fire burnt my house down and I'm really mad about it."
Much like the oval office, the LA mayors chair is purely in title only, they just do what their big money donors tell them to do. Until private money is out of politics, this is the fucked world we will continue to live in.
I gotta agree with the money part of your reply, it's jacking everything up from the top down.
I don't care in the slightest who the mayor of L.A. is, I just think it's funny watching them twist and bend to get things their way. Much like NYC's latest hire, I find it all very entertaining.
I will say living in BFE Minnesota has literally been a breath of fresh air. 😊
Our friends in common just moved back to the Ft Worth area, couldn't stomach living in SoCal anymore either.
The answer why it takes so long is this ^^^, because mail. If not for the fact that so many seniors rely on it, I wish we could ban mail. Though, there's nothing special about a week, so the week before or the week after is no different. The only difference is people's conditioned paranoia. Politicians have everyone so angry with each other that people now default to blaming the other party for all their life's problems. For some reason folks haven't noticed that our problems still exist no matter who is in charge, even the trifecta house/senate/pres. But, visceral patterns take the masses a long time to recognize. Jerry Springer was on the air for more than two decades before people got tired of the misery shtick, so I figure we have another decade to go.
Cant agree with you there. Democrats in California have ruled the state for more than 30 years with a super majority for at least the last 10. That allows them to pass some really stupid laws without any pushback or balance. If Republicans had been in charge for that long, we would not have the same problems. IMO we would have fewer problems but they also would be different. And problems as defined by who? Gasoline at $6/gal is not a problem for Leonardo DiCaprio but ask his gardener.
Really?
They sent a mail-in to everyone on the voting rolls.
I think you have to request one here.
Which part do you disagree with? That politicians profit from having us blame each other??
Anyway, as long as you're consistent with red states, that their problems are due to having a red dominant state. I don't agree that the politics themselves are the problem, though yes I agree that you get blue flavored problems in blue states and red flavored problems in red states, but I think that fact supports what I'm saying....because those states all have their flavor in control, yet their problems don't go away, so as a matter of basic math, their flavor of politics isn't the answer to the problems in their state.
Google says they give the mail seven days of mail flow where they check the stamp date, so by default it takes at least a week to count them.
My disagreement was with your statement that our problems still exist no matter who is in charge. Try putting a little finer point on the statement. What problems are the same no matter who is in charge?
I'm saying it does matter who is in charge. It matters a lot.

They cleaned out the homeless ,piles of shit, tents and hung communis flags in the street in record time when xi came to visit . They should be able to fast track some ballots across the state.
