I don't know what you mean by "gnarly" but i suppose it means "horribly good" as a synonyme or something. Never witnessed his 125 days myself, be lucky if you have.

James is awesome! .....was awesome.......will be,awesome. From the first time I saw him ride I was hypnotized by how he moves on the bike, how fast, fluid and downright magical he is on a scooter. Now,the other stuff may have kept me from being HIS biggest fan but how can you not sit back with your mouth gaping open at what he does on a bike. I still think he is as amazing as ever. Smoothed out, less bragging,no sprinkler or worm, very few hand to the ear milking applause kinds of things. And now he's more polished and mature. But just as fast and probably will finish more races. Now the good part. We have RV running him down from behind, catching him and beating him. Rookie Canard gaining on him from behind. Dungey passing and repassing him numerous times. etc. And he is just as awesome as before. It's just that many have stepped up their game to James' level. And who is to blame?............James. Because they probably learned much of it from him. Here's hoping the top 5 stay healthy this year. And yes, props to James for his "gnarlyness". Smile

Yeah Unadilla - I was there for that and I also asked JS7 about it earlier this year.

Good times!

Grant Langston looked befuddled in the first video. It was like he had no idea who it was that just blew past him. GL endoed a little bit on the following jump after Stewart passed him.

Langston @ 2:02 in the first vid looked back, saw Stewart, then tried to take his front end out but Stewart had already switched to the inside...bad ass move

I'm so greatful the four stroke thing didn't come too soon, preventing us to see him shred the shit out of a KX125! I loved watching him ride two-strokes, even the races in the 2005 season he raced in.

I can't believe it's been so long, but I remember EXACTLY where I was, when he busted out that major bubba scrub over Henry Hill and Budd's Creek.

Add me to the list of people who wouldn't mind seeing the sprinkler when he wins again.

If i had half his talent, i would be twice as rich. I got to witness his 125 days in person at several races. Not to many riders make you watch them in sheer awww, simply amazing. It always sounded like the throttle never shit off, and for those of you that saw him in person you know what i mean.

I remember the last race of the season before he turned pro. David Bailey said something along the lines of "And watch out next year for a young kid who has been winning everything in site named Bubba Stewart." and then they signed off. It was a goosebump moment. Then at the first race of the season they interviewed all the old pro's who were all smack talking James and saying they were gonna beat him (my favorite was Buddy, but Im not sure it was James first year or not.) Man he shut a whole lot of great riders up damn quick.

I really miss the way he rode that 125. So much determination and lots of desire to be out front no matter what. Last to first on many occasions was just awesome to watch.

All you ever need to witness of James to know what he is capable of.

I loved when he rode that 250f at Glen Helen and when asked about it he was shocked at how no one was able to beat him on one while he was riding a 125. He destroyed them that day on a 250f if I remember right.

Man, Bubba and Reed sure do have some history don't they.

And yes, JS was a bad ass on that 125. He's one of the very few riders who, if he was coming up now, might stand a chance still on a 125 against the current four strokes.

All the greats change the sport in some way and James is no different....he created the scrub...If you want some perspective on what he's done and how hard it is read 5 minutes with Kdub and he talks about his own scrub and how he struggles and looses time- He is "old school" Pre- James era-

I remember when Ricky and all the other top guys in the 250 class would actually watch James race from the sidelines. People couldnt believe how he was able to scrub like that.

yep he took MC's art of BMX and staying lower and timing jumps, combined it with RC's corner speed and created a whole new breed of kids...Kdub said it best there really isn't many more places to find speed on the track...I attribute that to James. Each guy has brought something...RC brought the non stop low lap with his crazy fitness- (not to mention he's an animal in the corners...but I digress this thread is about James)

Agreed 100%. And like I heard someone say (cant remember who) "When these kids come up, they have ridden the way we do their entire lives. They just find a way to add to it. Plus they are fearless because our style is all they have ever known."
