Shit, that was unintentional. That's funny. Now I'm a racist.

Watermelon makes me thinks of fried chicken.

Now I'm a Klansman.

No, I just hit the tolerance level for all of them. I think it's time for fans to at least show a minimum amount of respect for each other's riders.
Some "fans" are showing the least minimum amount of respect for each other's riders.

As for the term racism; - as ambiguous as it is - it now appears to have become one of the most misused words in Western society. But that's a discussion for another forum.

Is it OK to call him "Bubbalicious"? If James can do it why can't the fans?

The fact that Guyb kicked BL off the island again, and that he had been pushing the "Done-G" nickname whenever he had the chance and called IT9 a "fag" or similar.

I'm sure Guyb is taking heat from the sidelines, that he wouldn't hold others to the same level of accountability.

500 and GuyB got it right. That is where the association comes from. For those of you that question why I would think that:

1. When I first started posting at Fresh Dirt, as soon as someone found out that I was black they made sure to reply "nigger" in one of my post. That person still post here from time to time.

2. When you go to a national and hear one guy openly say "that nigger doesn't belong out there" it let's you know where some people stand. All I could do was laugh because I knew that James was going to make them mad as hell when he smoked the field that day. They may have hung themselves after the race.

3. I'm from the South and common racist terms are "yard ape" and "pourch monkey." How do I know........I have white friends that have told me about some of the racist shit they have heard other white people say when there are only other white people around.

4. There is always a smart ass trying to throw some shit out there claiming that it doesn't mean one thing when it obviously does.

Either you see where I'm coming from or you don't, but now you should be able to understand why "Bubbles" has a little different meaning for me than say "Done-G."

Damn, up until a couple of hours ago I thought this was a place where similarly-minded people could come in their spare time and talk some smack about a sport that they are passionate about while getting away from all the PC BS that is taking over the "real world"...a sort of escape from reality. I must have missed the thread or announcement that Vital had been acquired by PMSNBC. Can't wait to see Rachel Madow's avatar.Sad

I had never even begun to connect James "bubbles" Stewart with MJ's chimp. Like stated above, I always associated it with his "bubbalicious" patch, and bubbles just being a funny word. I'm a huge Windham fan, and K-fade is funny to me. Reed has to see the humor in "tutu", and I was the biggest Millsaps fan when he was on a 250f and Daisy Mudflaps is by far the best nickname out there. I really think this no-nicknames business is quite a stretch and an overreaction. I'd say bubbles is to racist as GOAT is to saying Carmichael enjoyed beastiality. Lighten up people.

You play the Angry Black Man well, but you can't tell me what I think, or pretend to know what I think, when I hear the name "Bubbles".

IMO, you really need to lighten the fuck up. The victim bullshit gets really tired. There will always be idiots on every side of the fence, get over it, this motocross and supposed to be for people that are tough, and FUN.

Like I said, you either see my point or you don't. Apparently you don't.

Davis224, - was here when that shit started. I remember the tone of post directed at James at that time so please don't try to tell me that you know that the term wasn't racially motivated.

Either way, my point was NOT to say that because someone uses the term Bubbles that they are trying to be racist, the point was to help you understand why someone might take it that way.

True. I got my point out there so I'm done.

Just a quick question GuyB. Have any riders or rider representatives complained about the nicknames? Just asking.

I can understand how someone could take it that way now... I just think it's too much of a stretch. I've been reading these a while as well and don't particularly remember any sort of animosity when that nickname came up... but oh well. Agree to disagree.

Wait...

Not only are we not to use nicknames for riders, but now we are not to have an open discussion?

What's next, are you going to stop us from having opinions? Can I no longer state my preference for Two-Strokes, and my disdain for four-strokes?

What the hell happened to you Steve? Damn.

And then again, why are some people allowed to post negative comments and others not?

BobbyM calls someone a cumchuggler which has obvious homosexual overtones, but Lenny says that someone does something "gay" and he gets clicked?

Bobby has stirred more shit with more people on this board (and motodrive before it) damn near anyone else on the board.

Damn. This crap ain't right.

Let's see... I can remember Stewart having butt patches that read, "Bubba", that lead to "Bubba-licious" with a logo furthering the play on words association with a "bubble"gum brand, so a natural spin-off from that would be "Bubbles" without ever having anything to do with his race, Michael Jackson, or chimpanzees.

Only a racist would assume the association relating a young Black man to MJ's chimp.
Absofuckinglutely spot on.

Never considered this nickname to have a thing to do with any monkey. And I'm 53 in a few weeks.
