Well, he gave props because that's what he's been coached to say. You can see his grooming is going well. Very different from the 'say very little, be an angry asshole all the time, give no shits' persona, to the politically correct "oh yeah, and I want to thank my mom and dad, my sponsors, yada yada". He transformed almost overnight somewhere around mid-season (when crowds were beginning to boo him and not cheer).
He realized his asshole personality was turning people off, so he's trying the "I'm a good guy, it's all good, just for the fans" persona after what I am sure, was some coaching on how to do just that.
I get it, he's the AMA's little 'gift that keeps giving', so very little will ever happen to him with regards to rough riding, intentional takeouts, etc. But the constant glazing is a bit over the top. He's good, no argument there, but the glazing on this kid specifically is unreal.

I don't agree with this. Davies last year was completely different than this year, I said it another time, he probably just put a lot of pressure on himself to win this year and just locked in. Once the championship was pretty much safe he already seemed to loosen up again. Last year he was hilarious as fuck in interviews. Remember, he is just a young kid and was never supposed to win/dominate this early until his rookie season.
Also have u seen the gypsy video "100 hours with Cole Davies" by any chance? Definitely give it a go if you didn't yet, it's great.
Deegan to me is just fake. He doesn't seem human to me, like he always has to put on a show once the camera is on. Maybe he is completely different off camera? Absolutely love how good the guy is and what he brings to the sport but I cannot listen to him for one second. Probably the result of someone who has had a camera shoved in their face since being a little kid, always with the pressure to perform or entertain. He can't even look someone straight in the eyes and starts tweaking when he's been interviewed. Very weird

If this is directed at me, I'm not a big fan of highly narcissistic individuals with diarrhea of the mouth. Ricky, Chad, Deegs. I'm with Matthes on deegs; he's a great rider, provides some entertaining drama, but I get concerned for humanity when I see grown men white knighting for him.
If there's any neurosis on my part, it's that I simultaneously despise how he races yet want to see the outcome, good or bad.
