Haven’t done a helmet in about six months

Edited Date/Time 5/6/2026 5:39pm

This past 9 months I was getting out of doing construction and painting, was pretty far into the process of being a highway patrol, and at the last second I realized that isn’t me, so I’m back swinging hammers and painting in the evenings, this one felt good to do and am stoked on the result. Up next I am painting a sprint car and matching helmet next for a great guy that’s helping me out with my racing Jon Dewees, he’s a navy veteran and it will be a American flagged themed car most likely 👊 anyways here’s the lid

Looks good, and thats coming from a fellow liquid coating application specialist... Or, painter..

How about a cover the earth lid?

On a real note, id love to do one of my current lids with a custom job similar to one of mine in the early 2000s. I paint houses though, not helmets or cars. Lol

Think exterior duration would hold up on a helmet? Just kidding lol..

What would a paint job like that cost?  It’s really cool looking without being over the top.

Looks bad ass!

How many hours would you say goes into something like that, if that's not prying?

I'm just sitting here thinking of how many "Do Overs" I'd have logged. 🤣

I won’t share the price since he sent it in a PM, but I will say that it’s less than I expected it to be!

Having worked with @bigdogpaint401 , I can say of you are thinking about it, do it.  Very easy to work with, and the results are amazing.

I’ve had quite a few helmets that have ended up in me working well below minimum wage😂, I’d say this helmet has about 30 hours into it total

Helmet looks good!  I’ll stop by your pits on Saturday if you’re out there. I’ll be there all day spinning wrenches.

I help out the Wakim boys. Pretty sure we’re only running Conor this weekend. Cole is taking the weekend off.

Sick I’ll try not to get in the way 😂 that’s some serious racing pedigree there, my uncle Mike raced against Chris in the early 2000s and will be there

You’ll be fine, just like moto hold your line and the fast guys will get around ya.

Cole is definitely doing great right now. Conor is picking things up pretty fast too considering he’s only been in the car a handful of races.

Chris and I have been friends for years so I’m always happy to help out his boys.
